Hey all... less then 36 hours to pre-register for your Gencon Badge and Event tickets
Keep in mind - Legacy and Team Worlds are slated for Thursday, and The world championships appear to be a three day event this year.

Is that correct? even though i fully understand it singles will be at least 2 days, 3 seems really overly generous.

if you dont pre-reg it just costs more right? Not like you wont be able to get in or anythign right?
Im just not sure i can make it (economy + injury = ouch on the wallet)

What are event tickets and how do I acquire them? Pardon my ignorance, but this will be my first trip to GenCon.

You mean like a third of my team that I've run with for the last two years? Yeah... this'll be interesting.
For those who asked various questions:
Here's the link for GenCon Indy 2009: http://www.gencon.com/2009/indy/default.aspx
Here is the link to the Gencon Registration System: www.genconreg.com/
Regarding Badge Prices, here is a copy and paste from the Gencon Website:
Pre-Registration
(February 15 – June 27)
4-Day Badge $68
1-Day Badge (Thurs-Sat) $38
1-Day Badge (Sun) n/a
Family Fun Badge (Sun) n/a
Onsite
(August 12 – August 16)
4-Day Badge $78
1-Day Badge (Thurs-Sat) $48 (Each day. So if you're buying a badge for Friday and Saturday, you're looking at $96)
1-Day Badge (Sun) $28
Family Fun Badge (Sun) $28
The other difference is the amount of time you'll be waiting in line.
Pre-Reg, if you show up on Wednesday, typically means you're getting your badge in about 20 minutes.
If you live within the US, they will also mail you your badge and event tickets, meaning you don't even have to wait in line.
If you're doing it onsite, expect 2+ hours in line depending on when you go.
What are event tickets:
At Gencon you must register for each event that you wish to participate in, as space is usually limited.
For example there are 81 seats left for the UFS Legacy Worlds, 127 for the World Teams Championships, and 176 for the World Championships.
If you purchase an event ticket prior to the event you are garunteed entry. You can also purchase Generic tickets, which can be used for any event, so long as there is space available.
You can either purchase your event tickets through pre-registration (which ends tomorrow), or at the show. Please note, you will be waiting in line to puchase event tickets, and if you've waited in line to get a badge, and then waited in line to get your event tickets, some times you'll loose almost half a day in line. (I am creating worst case scenario expectations so players are aware of what they could experience and plan accordingly. Some players experience may differ in either direction from what I am outlining above.)
GenCon Officially starts on Thursday. However registration is open Wednesday afternoon/evening for those folks who want to start doing things right away on Thursday (IE those who wish to play in the Worlds Team Championships)
For those who commented that I could have included the pre-reg link in my earlier post.... I figured www.gencon.com would be fairly obvious, and the "Regsiter NOW!" link a dead give away. My bad.
Can we still reg online after tomorrow without the pre-reg discount?

Honestly - I don't know.
I believe they are taking the online reg system offline to start processing and mailing out all of the various pre-regs. I don't work with Gencon, and this is a new reg system this year, so the Gencon folks would probably be the best ones to answer that.
=/
I really don't know if I'm going to be able to go at this point. Boy, the prices just rack-up...=/
But thanks for the warning anyways =)
i am going but iam just gonna have to fly in a day early and get my stuff done on wednesday instead of Thursday, unless i dont end up finding team mates then i will fly in on thursday miss teams and just reg for singles
