Line Laser

By madtulip, in Star Wars: Armada

For another miniature game called Infinity i bought a line laser.:

Those things come in realy handy if you want to draw straight lines on the battlefield without touching things to check line of sight from the head of the model to somewhere in 3D enviroments through windows and stuff, but would also be usefull for firing arcs or cases of obstruction in those boarder/discussable situations i think. maybe you can get a green one as well :P .

i attached something like in the picture above to a switch and a 9V battery block (refer to the manual for supply voltage !)

at least its something to do while waiting :) .

Oh, I just bought one at the hardware store. It's available for $5.

I also use a line laser for Infinity....best tool ever :D . £2.50 from my local hardware store.

Nice thread OP!

5 bucks!

...can't find anything like it here in Oz! Only the hundred dollar Bosch stuff!

Do they export their products overseas?

Man...I'd love to have one! :D

I prefer the smaller form factor :

over longer models which include the battery like this one :

because you probably get into situations where you want to hold the laser above/behind the head of a miniature inside a building or tight spot. Instead of just drawing a line from A to B from the top of the table you can then move the laser 90° to the projected line to light out everything the model can see on the table in i.e. a city enviroment. That smaller form attached to a maybe 1` long cable leading to a switch and battery comes in handy in theese thight spots. At least thats the case with the infinity board game and my terrain.

I can't imagine that you couldn't mail order one. It'd be a little pricier with shipping & handling, but it shouldn't rise to $100. However, are you sure you can't look around some more? Surely Aussies need guidance with their circular saws too.

Nah mate we just close one eye, stick our tongue out and bodge it. Straight as a roos tail

But seriously, I've just spent 2 hours looking for anywhere that will ship one of the battery handheld lasers to Australia.

Its impossibru!

The closest is the Army Painter Targetlock line laser, but its out of stock everywhere. There are hints that it will be restocked next month though

Heh! Can't say I've ever seen a roo with a straight tail before.

@ Madtulip:

Haa...some of us aren't as hardware/tech savvy as yourself good sir. ;)

@ InvisibleCalm:

Does that laser market have an adjustable beam? 0 to 90 Degrees etc?

Actually, a VSD's front fire arc is wider than 90 Degrees right? :o

@ Alpha Xg1: Unfortunately you get only one feature, the on/off button. But it's a decent for the price.

There's a 3rd party vendor selling them on Newegg. But you'll quickly see why they still have stock once you search it, the price is a bit high.

the angle also doesnt need to be the same as the firing acr angle of anything :) . you just want to draw a straight line with it. i.e. the one border line of a single firing arc in order to determine if your target is in your arc or not. or in other cases if you can connect a stright line between two points without objects in between.

When they get stock, these are nice:

Say, Mikael, if something goes horribly wrong and we can't source any -think you'd mind if we ordered through 'you'?

Amazon.co.uk has them for £10 or less (2 models). If worst comes to the worst, i can send you some if you cover the postage :)

Hehe, Extropia,

That's very generous of you, my friend.

You have an accord! Let's see if the Army Painter Target Lock gets re-stocked first. :D

Edit:

Heck!!! Guys! It's back in stock!! Only 2 left though!

Yours truly ordered one just now. :D

Quickly go!

Managed to find a supplier of the Army Painter lasers, and of course they only have the spot one, not the target lock *doh* so have now ordered one from minaturemarket - worked out the same price as the local retailer when shipping was added too :)

Sure, no problem. PM me if you need to.

Hehe. Mikael, you're a gentleman!

Both Extropia and yourself are our collective 'Plan B' should something go awry!

Hrm, just received an e-Mail though, from Miniature Market, they've shipped out my Target Lock! Awesome!!!

Mine too :D
