Oddly, this is also a good Fortress list, believe it or not.

The Autothrustsers give you elevated defense at the range in which you're going to be engaging, and in every round thereafter, you'll break out and swarm them like angry bees.

(in all seriousness, I think it's an awesome tactic/strategy, just not one that is yet fully supported, and as such you have to be able to use other tactics/strategies as well with the same fleet to win. It's a tool that should be learned, so it can be used when appropriate ;) )

I know interceptors have always been awesome. the topic asks if they will be to awesome?

I try not be too much of a grammar jerk but the extra "o" would help in your question.

In answer, I can't imagine that interthrusters will be too powerful. Still a glass cannon against anything that can get them in arc and range 2.

The best part about autothrusters? Their effect doesn't work against the firesprays rear arc :D

I don't see them being overpowered, no. Admittedly, I'm a novice, but it's not the level of mobility and defense a Phantom gets (But it is cheaper and works even if you go second, which is a plus)

AT only gives a boost against turret ships they are still as likely to pop as ever if caught in arc during a dog fight, people that use the YT's as a crutch will suffer but most will adapt and the focus will be less on one highly survivable ship and more on the whole squad again.

My biggest concern with Auto Thrusters is that Gunner will be seen more often, I don't like Gunner......

My biggest concern with Auto Thrusters is that Gunner will be seen more often, I don't like Gunner......

I would think AT would push away from gunner and towards more modified attack dice, since AT works without tokens on every attack.

But your increasing the likihood that the first attack will miss, meaning that Gunner pulls the trigger more often, the second attack frequently being with less token defence...

I have 12 interceptors as well, including 3 aces packs

if any of you remember the Micro Machine Action fleet scale toys for Star Wars. they are about 1/72 scale, I have 4 interceptors.

my first star wars model was an Interceptor, during the original ROTJ release, not the re-mastered ones.

That's a decent list but it does leave the royal guards a bit vulnerable to a late moving Han, though it's not something easily worked around.

I used fel turr and tetran against a VI leebo and even then I did get caught a few times in the front arc, knowing when to boost and when to turtle is important.

Interceptors have always been bad ass, they will remain bad ass. And personally they are my favorite ship in the game and oh yes with the new upgrades forthcoming they just get better and better
