Interceptors going to be to awesome after scum release?

so, I am a huge squint fan. I love it. its cool looking, the coolest, IMO, in the game.

I liken myself as an extremely capable squint pilot. but with autothrusters coming, I see me flying a 3 squint build

soontir+PTL+Stealth+Autothruster+Royal guard tie

Turr+PTL+Stealth+autothruster+RGT

Lorrir+PTL+Stealth+Autothruster+RGT

They are already awesome, now they will also be viable. I'm super psyched.

My friends already grumble when I get Soontir on the table. With Autothrusters, I'm pretty sure I'll hear then whine from time to time.

PS: Lorrir can't take an EPT

I did fel tetran and turr with AT and SD, my friend was really annoyed because his shooting was excellent all game with his yt2400 using a mango cannon, a couple of times getting three crits only to watch me dodge it all, I lost fel but killed two z-95s and a b-wing as well as his yt.

They won't stop people using turret ships nor should they but they'll make em sweat.

Yep. Even more so than now.

Autothrusters Soontir is kicking ass in the TC Vassal Tournaments.

I'm not a super big fan of stealth device on Interceptors. It's not bad , but it just rarely seems worth the points. IMHO, I'd rather take a fourth interceptor over Stealth.

IE.

  • 4x Royal Guard + VI + Autothrusters

...that's four Interceptors at PS8, 12 attack dice a turn. HELLO FAT FALCONS HI HOW ARE YOU TODAY. :D

Or you could go high/low:

  • 2x Alpha + Autothrusters
  • Soontir Fel + PtL + Autothrusters
  • Carnjor Jax + Autothrusters

I just dig four Interceptors on the table. That's a LOT of firepower...

What do you mean "going" to be?

They already *are* awesome.

All that changes is that interceptors will be viable.

Now only Soontir Fel is really viable outside of niche builds. (IMO)

I'm tempted to go Autothrusters + Target Computers, myself. I think it increases PTL's utility as both an offensive and defensive option, and with the two Modifications being so cheap (4 points, total?!) I think it has some legs.

Maybe we will even see less big, turreted ships? Let's hope so.

Without AT I agree SD is more prone to failure than success but against a turret rolling four dice increases the chance to get one evade and one blank.

You still want that evade action in combination with a boost to maximize your survival chances.

In some play testing I have already done the thrusters make the squint much more potent vs a turret. Just think, Soontir was great before. Now he has focus, focus, evade , evade when facing a falcon or outrider. I rarely play stealth device but it could work on the new Soontir.

How about 4 Royal Guards with autothrusters and calculation? Would hurt against Dash but often pilot skill of 8 isn't much better than the natural 6.

Targeting Computer is a trap. You're better off spending that 4 points giving Howlrunner some superior survivability, or jumping up to named Interceptors.

First, there is Lorrir that can't take EPT so here's one playable without PtL. Then there is Tetran with Predator or Adrenaline rush, surprisingly good and without the stress from PtL, you can actually get to use his ability from time to time. There is also Turr with Veteran Instinct, which can prove very useful these days with the PS race. A Royal Guard with VI give you an Interceptor that move at PS 8 for as low as 23 points, not too bad.

A Interceptor without PtL need to be flown differently, but it is in no way suicide, especially once Autothruster come out in a couple of weeks. Opening your dial by not binding you to green maneuvers to clear stress can be as effective as being able to barrel roll and boost every turn.

Would you go Shield, or Hull+Determination?

Hull + Adrenaline Rush, honestly.

She uses her actions to stay alive. Adrenaline Rush allows her one Koiogran without losing her action.

I've started doing that ever since my opponents started killing her off on the first K-turn in the game, and have gotten substantially better results :)

Oddly, this is also a good Fortress list, believe it or not.

The Autothrustsers give you elevated defense at the range in which you're going to be engaging, and in every round thereafter, you'll break out and swarm them like angry bees.
