What will the next epic Imperial ship be?

By Koing907, in X-Wing

The DP20 also has literally no chance of being in the game, hope that helps.

People seem to think that there has to be Imperial and S&V GR75 equivalents,

so I wouldn't be surprised if they did a Scum & Villany DP20.

The gunship still has a smaller max crew and is specifically mentioned as having basically no room for passengers or troops. A case could be made for more/equal teams but less so the crew which seem to represent passengers more than anything else.

Common configurations included a

Its ease of modification was a trademark of CEC and increased the corvette's resale value.

One of the rarer variants could carry starfighters, such as the Night Caller and Constrictor.

You make a good point with the contrast, but the largest number of "crew stats" of the CR90 corvette probably comes from the passenger liner variant, so I don't take the figure all that seriously.

The crew formula for the miniatures is co-pilot & gunner related. Eg. YT-1300 has four seats in the cockpit plus two gun wells.

Based on that, a case could be made that the CR90 should have had (3/30 ~ 16/165) 15 crew slots, which is why I don't agree with your reasoning.

What about the new cruiser in Star Wars Rebels?

ESqnCLN.png

I like this ship.

Armament
Quad laser turrets (4)
Dual turbolaser cannons (4)
Missile tubes (4)

It's too bad it's a Republic ship, and it looks like the Consular Ship.

200 meters makes it a contender by size.

Although it made 11 Clone Wars episode appearances,

If it shows up in Star Wars Rebels any more I'll be hopeful about it in XWMG.

That's the Clone Wars era Arquitens-class light cruiser.

I wouldn't mind one either.....

Gentlemen are you sick of pesky rebels and pirate ships buzzing around with all their shields, turrets and illegal technology? Tired of having to write notification of death letters to the families of dead imperial pilots? Tired of waiting for a solution to the question of what imperial huge ship will be next? Wait no longer behold the H-k Probot! A 150m tall ship devouring machine!

Taking a lil probot and blowing him up to giant size is just lazy, unimaginative design, and we shouldn't tolerate it. You might as well have the Rebel version be a giant R2-D2 with turbolasers.

I tried expressing this and failed, so deleted my draft.

Utterly lazy.

and yet some people on here get all moist when someone mentions the XG-1 Assault Gunboat - which is little more than a scaled down Lambda

Well, we all have particular connections to things from our childhood. That's what this game is mostly about, IMO.

A LOT of the people playing this game came to Star Wars through the games that included things like the XG-1. Therefore they love it. I didn't really get to SW through that avenue (much), and therefore really don't get the Xizor/StarViper mania. In fact, while I might really want to pick up the autothrusters, I don't want to give FFG the impression that I condone their support of Xizor and his funky top-of-head ponytail and super-seductive body odor.

But I'm also a cranky old man at times.

That's interesting, I guess I'm in between. I never (ever, ever) like the Star Viper until FFG (Star Wars: X-Wing) announce they were coming out with it. Then I thought, you know maybe not so bad. But...

End in the end I'm buying only a few for flavor and the cards. If someone wants to run an S&V squad I have a few but I'll never own as much or have enough for flexibility in builds as I do Imperial and Rebel.

A couple but... they are not Star Wars enough for me. Not just the movies but the over all looks. And that's just my feeling.

Or course I have to admit the reason I got into this game was because I walked into a games store and saw someone with a highly detailed well pre-painted Millennium Falcon. It is Star Wars after all.

Yeah boo to lazy design starwars should never use old ideas ....

You say it as though that image isn't full of similarly lazy/stupid designs...

TIE Star Cruiser?? Experimental mk1??? REALLY???

It's definitely a mixed bag as far as the TIEs variants go. The boarding craft is pretty bloody cool, though not that useful in X-wing.

If you want fun TIE variants, look no further than the Deathseed Ugly (shields, independently rotating X-wing s-foils like the B-wing cockpit) and the Gand starfighter (TIE Bomber with interceptor style wing cut-outs, shields, quad cannons, and hyperdrive). Very cool but pretty of obscure and a bit more niche than the K-wing, Skipray, or even the Scimitar.

If you want EPIC to be playable in a tournament format, I think the rules for builds need to be shifted. I have tried it this way and works better:

Standard 100 point build for non huge ships. Think off this as the epic ships support ships or convoy security. Then players get 140 points to build out epic ship(s). This way game play is really only adding 1-2 epic ships per side. Now, you can still have time limit set at 75 min rounds and get great games in.

Something like this will help EPIC drastically.

I remember reading Shadows of the Empire, and I remember Prince Xixor, and I remember Dash Rendar, but... I had to stretch my memory quite a bit to place the StarViper. I actually do like the look of it. And I love that the Star Wars universe is big enough to contain Black Sun _and_ the Rebellion, and a whole host of other groups.

But I can understand how others feel differently.

Next epic ship will be Scum. Id say a Hutt ship.

But I'm also a cranky old man at times.

You and me both old son :)

Not me, I hate that design, too. It needs to go away, along with the Space Dong ships and the K-wing.

Most of these ideas are lazy and really, really stupid.

The TIE tank? Seriously? The TIE star cruiser? Any art director worth their salt would and should redline 90% of this garbage.

If these stats are correct I'm hopeful for this ship.

If you look at the TIE fighters in the hangar of the Escort Carrier as a gauge, the ship is around 300m long.

I remember hunting those things down in Rogue Squadron!
