Action Definition

Its the reason I stay away from rule debates if Im not in close proximity to hit the person. (Or atleast be visibly disgruntled :D)

To be fair, this is very very unusual for rules questions on this forum. Usually they amount to

"Can I do this?"

"No, here's why."

"Oh, that makes sense, thanks."

OK yep I think I've got it now, sorry it took so long. And now I may have accidentally confused someone else.

Expert Handling is a special case there because there is an action within an action, to use for "after" an action trigger (the barrel roll part).

All of Daredevil's card is an action but could be triggered after a maneuver, specifically for dauntless.

So both of these have interrupts.

But now I think nothing can be triggered off fleet officer, is this correct?

I guess my initial question was only really only related to Expert Handling after looking at it, because of its special action within an action.

But now I think nothing can be triggered off fleet officer, is this correct?

Yes, because there's no action within the Fleet Officer action to trigger something. So you'd get the stress before you could use PtL.

However if you have a upgrade or other ability that triggers off of getting a focus token, then you could perform what ever effect that allowed.

Everything you said was correct.

Except this part, but I'm guessing that is simply a language thing.

All of Daredevil's card is an action but could be triggered trigger an after a maneuver ability, specifically for dauntless.

Been on these boards longer then you friend, some of the things I've seen would make you shudder. But you are right, rule questions are a simple matter and usually follow that line of yours, which I'm happy to answer. Debates...well they get to this point.

But now I think nothing can be triggered off fleet officer, is this correct?

I'd be careful with "nothing". Fleet Officer is an action, and will trigger any ability which is watching for an action. This includes PtL and Experimental Interface. Generally, you won't be able to take the granted free action from those two because you're stressed, but that's not guaranteed. Captian Yorr could pull the stress from using Fleet Officer, for example, or the Fleet Officer could be on a huge ship like the Raider that cannot get stress. So PtL will trigger off the action, and you resolve it, doing the free action (or not) as the situation allows/requires.

Other abilities which trigger off actions will still trigger fine from Fleet Officer. I can't think of any action triggers which don't just give more actions, but there may be some, and they'll operate normally.

I'm not sure if it will help someone understand the timing but does someone want to go through the possible choices for:

Jake + PtL + AWTP/Expert Handling + EL starting without Stress.

After the basic situation is done you could add outside sources granting either another action or perhaps a Focus Token.
