i'm calling this one "road rage"

By nikk whyte, in X-Wing

i posted this in the proper sub-forum, where it promptly went unnoticed.

anyway, this is for doing a lot of damage, and for confusing target priority

oicunn, intimidation, saboteur, dauntless, anti pursuit lasers

omicron pilot, HLC, rec spec

dark curse, stealth device

oicunn smash, followed by saboteur, and then potential enemy bumps for apl damage. then an actual attack.

the shuttle is there to split the threat assessment. do i take out the decimator, that can inflict a lot of pain simply by flying around, or do i take out the actual big gun? dark curse buzzes around, being a pain to deal with.

hmmm, an interesting list.. I've run a similar load-out on a decimator and i have to say i'm just not a fan of saboteur. it's too situational to get much use-Ysanne Isard is a much more useful crew member and i'd find a way to swap if it was me. And i do LOVE dark curse:-)

would swapping out the HLC for an ion canon just so you can maximise the number of hapless pedestrians you get to run over be too mean spirited...? less competitively effective for sure but infinitely more devious and fun...:-)

I might trade out Intimidation for Daredevil.
It counts as a maneuver, so it triggers your Pilot Ability and your Title.

In this case, Oicuun + Daredevil + Dauntless + Saboteur does the following

Move

Overlap

Trigger Oicuun Ability

Trigger Dauntless

Perform action: Daredevil

Move

Overlap

Trigger Oicuun Ability

Trigger Dauntless

Perform action: Saboteur

Receive Dauntless stress

Receive Daredevil Stress

Roll 2d8 damage against self, unless you have an Engine Upgrade

Receive Dauntless Stress

Check Stress step. If your initial maneuver was Green, remove 1 stress token from your ship.

Huzzah for nested triggers! Scheherazade would be proud of you!

Final tally: You gained 3 stress and possibly 2 self-damage, but definitely dealt 2 opposing damage, possibly flipped up a crit, and may have ditched one of the 3 stress anyway.

Hang on, where did the self damage come from?

Possibly the best way I have seen this explained, ever.

Behold the power of Formatting! MUAHAHAHAHA

Is that the order stress actually shows up in? I thought it applied before all of the extra actions.

Oh, I don't have daredevil.

Explains that.

I'm gonna take 2 damage I'd rather just use vader. Doesn't tie up an action.

Yep :)

Taking 2 damage is the worst possible result of Daredevil. It is equally likely of dealing no damage, and that's IF you don't have an Engine Upgrade.

Moreover, Daredevil repositions you, and doesn't require that you attack.

This is way better than Vader.

Plus, you trigger Dauntless title for actions twice.

Three stress, but probably worth it.

To add to DraconPyrothayan's point, it's damage connected to mere chance, only 1 damage guaranteed until shields are down, and you're potentially doing 2 damage to the opponent as opposed to 1 crit. And a possible change to crit with Saboteur.

but now i can only use it once every 3-4 turns. i'd rather go for my current build, which can be used every single turn.
