None of it will matter once I have my Turtle Squadron of Darth w/ 3xTempest. Game will be fraggin' OVER!
Surprised by the lack of information regarding future releases
I am wondering if they realize that Armada could poach XWing a bit. I want to play both, but it’s not realistic for a lot of players to be able to afford both at the same time at a competitive level, thus MAYBE there will be less releases…
BUT it sure feels like a release a quarter isn’t out of the question for XWing. Wave 6 will be Q1ish (Probably March 4th-ish along with Armada Wave 1), Raider is already at the printer so it should fix the release schedule from all the delays and truly land in Q2 end of May, and we can probably expect Scum Aces for Q3 (August), with wave 7 impacting Worlds by releasing in early October. That schedule can and should happen.
FFG’s releases have been plagued by the port/customs issues and that will eventually sort itself out. My biggest fear is that Armada and XWing may fall into similar release windows, but I am hoping that since no Armada wave 2 is imminent yet, that they will time wave 2 for June or July so they stagger themselves from XWing releases…
Of course who knows…and I appreciate them not spoiling 2 releases ahead..we don’t even have Scum fully spoiled or in our hands so NO I don’t want to already drool over whatever is after the Raider. For all we know another Epic ship is coming. (Although I doubt it since the Raider hit the printer already as mentioned) J
For all we know another Epic ship is coming
My bets are on the TIE bomber thing semi-announced at Worlds.

Hmm? I was pretty distracted at the time; what did I miss?

Interesting. I wonder what.
Something to think about:
Autothrusters was designed to slightly Nerf turreted ships. They said when Autothrusters was announced that they had other ideas about bigger nerfs to turrets if AT proved insufficient. So my bet is that Wave 7 is basically designed, but there are at least 1 or 2 more cards that may or may not go in wave 7, depending on how well Autothrusters does.
My polls for the next 12 months:
- YT-2000 for Scum
- Assault Gunboat for Empire
- Tie Avenger for Empire
- Z-95, Y-Wing and Firespray for Scum (individual expansions)
- ARC-170 for Rebels and Scum
- Space Stations. This would add a new and cool style of missions and combats
- N1 Nubian Fighter
- Rebel aces new pack, with improvements and new options for X-Wings
- Huge ship for Scum
- Maybe a fourth Faction?
I hope it's an "aces" box that fixes the one shot weapons in some way, adds a new bomb, has proxy mine tokens in it, and gives some new pilots for flavour.
If it's not a pair of bombers, like the two squints in imperial aces, maybe a bomber/defender set to flesh out the currently underwhelming defender with some new pilots too. Theme the box around heavy ordnance.
It would also set up the possibility of a later X-wing/E-wing pack.

When I read this, I thought it was silly... for about 5 seconds. Then I imagined an actual model on the table, and then I imagined it using something like the huge ship rules.
I am now willing to buy one for $60-$80.

Not really on topic in this thread, but I liked the idea someone had a while ago of doing a card pack that printed "Mk.II" versions of a lot of the ordnance. Proton Torpedo Mk.II, Concussion Missile Mk.II and so on, that removed the need to spend your TL and maybe made a few other tweaks. I would allow us to keep the flavor of still equipping Proton Torpedoes and so on, without the need of the confusing mess of errata'd cards.
They actually made it sound like "Hard Counters" to turrets were coming. I hope there are more than auto-thrusters coming no matter what, because that's like taping a telephone book to your body and calling it bulletproof.
I would more perfer a counter to Phantoms that destroy every single random build that doesn't include high pilot skill, turrets, or swarms of ships.
Power Creep is here and it's real people! Scum and that TIE Advanced are going to lead us down a slippery slope unless we get more parity quick!

What about more small ships for Scum? The M12-L Kimogila springs to mind.
Only 3 cards have been spoiled from the Raider. I would be happy if they didn't spoil Wave 7 until after the Imperial Raider was released.
Players practicing with the ships 3 and even 6 months before they are available to buy takes a lot of excitement out of it, it just feels like going through the motions. "Oh, that ship that I've already been playing with and figured out for 2 months is finally up for sale, I guess I should actually go buy it now. Meh, these old ships that I haven't touched for a few months are already looking interesting again".
With so many more players playing the game now, new releases don't have that sense of excitement and discovery that they used to because everybody proxies up the spoiled info as soon as it's released and then posts the results online. I think FFG needs to borrow from MTG's method, don't start spoiling anything until the product has actually started it's 6-12 week boat trip.

Okay, wait. You're looking for more hard counters to turrets, and something to undo the damage Phantoms have done to the metagame by pushing out builds of 3-4 small ships. But where do Scum come in, with their lack of Large turrets and their non-access to Phantoms?

Ha, fair point.
I don't think that Scum need to necessarily "nerf" the meta, merely shake it up so that builds are less predictable and more varied. Autothrusters will check turrets enough to make certain ships (A-Wings, Interceptors, StarVipers, IG-2000) threats to turreted ships. All three Scum HWKs legitimately threaten ships like Phantoms and Falcons alike. Reinvigorated Firesprays, Y-Wings, and Z-95s (along with new builds presented by the Scyk, StarViper, and IG-2000) will all provide not only variety, but probably expose new and successful tactics against known builds. Can a 4 HLC build thump a cloaked Phantom out of the sky with a R3 alpha strike, or put 8+ damage on a Falcon in a single turn? We'll find out. Can Deadman's Switches and Feedback Arrays deal enough passive damage to take down agile or tough targets, forcing people back to multiple ship builds? Maybe not, but it will be a legitimate threat to finish off that one tough ship from time to time.
I don't know if some or all of those, plus others, could be true. But I am sure as hell excited that there will be new, fresh options, new STYLES of playing, and even if they can't fully knock the same builds off the perch, at least there will be something new. That, in and of itself, is at least interesting.
Edited by R2ShihTzuScums answer to everything is a dual Aggressor build. S-Turns galore and free gunner on cannons, or regenerating shields after kills. I can't wait to try out a pair of those ![]()

I hope your right about this. I've already kicked a entire other game system to the curd so I could have some slack in the wallet for Armada if they start releasing for both game systems at the same time it could get ugly fast.
... I am surprised we have not heard more information regarding what FFG has planned for the next release.
I'd say I'm surprised that people aren't content with what they've got and what they're getting, but I'd be lying. The sun rises and the sun sets...
I'm personally glad about the lack of information.
I'm getting tired that everytime someone ask about tips for their list to bring to a tournament, there will always be some people proposing change including cards not out yet: ''Give it Autothruster''-''You should replace the ship with a Advanced with ATC''-''Give it a Mangler Cannon instead''. Not everyone proxy cards, and they are not supposed to be legal in tournaments.
Maybe if we stop having spoilers 6 months in advance, we will start to live in the present again...

Can't blame people for wanting to use the TIE/x1s that have been sitting around gathering dust for who knows how long...
