I have really liked this one. Trick is going without gunner on whisper and keeping him within 2 of Vader... takes practice.

You could potentially drop Whisper down to Echo to free up 2 points. Maybe even drop FCS for another 2 points to give Vader EU.

Am I missing something here? Why would you ever put decoy for 2 points on a phantom, when veteran instincts only cost 1 point?

Because VI gets you to PS9. But Decoy could get you to 11 if you were near a VI vader. There are VI Hans out there and them shooting before your cloak is on is death.

Only problem I see with this list is that Vader is basicly useless with no EU or Advanced Targeting Computer, I would go with something like this instead.

Ran the Echo variant, can confirm it is badass (exactly Fnords variant)

So I ran this exact list last night against my wife just to try it out. Without telling her what I was flying, she built a double YT build. Can confirm, got tabled. Almost killed both YTs with Whisper.

Vader died almost instantly, while the interceptor and the Phantom held their own for a good while. I underestimated her next move and ended up turning in the opposite direction of her, which put the interceptor's back to one of the YTs, that became a dead interceptor. Luckily I was able to wrap around the falcon with Whisper and almost burned it down but she got me =(

Agreed that Vader needs something, EU usually. Although really, Whisper can win the game by herself at PS11, so the mission of Vader is just to live and be within range 2. If the enemy is PS6 or less, you don't need Vader to live.

Decoy has a lot you can do with it, esp multiple ships...

The one problem that I see is that Whisper still moves at PS 7. If you are playing against another Whisper, Soontir, Turr with VI (etc) then they will have no problem in getting out of your firing arc. PS11 will not help as much if you cannot fire at any target.

That is why the other 56 points are there...

I like Vader with EU and the Accuracy Corrector (which frees up another point to spend someplace) - not totally sold on Adv Targeting Computer yet. I've used it by proxy and it basically telegraphs Vader's target to your opponent, so he/she can either avoid Vader OR focus him down. Accuracy Corrector might not be as flashy, but helps sustain Vader's damage output.
