Vessery list

I've been a big fan of the defender since it's release but have never really flown vessery.

I do wonder if Carnor is worth it or if I could drop him down to a royal guard to give the shuttle either weapons engineer or an engine upgrade? Any other thoughts are welcome.

I flew a very similar list. It was:

Col. Vessery w/ VI

Omnicron Pilot w/ Adv. Sensors, Weapons Eng, and Engine Upgrade

Turr Phennir w/ PTL and Shield Upgrade

I came in 3rd at a small event. It was my first time vs. a Fat Han and I narrowly missed trapping him. I then made another another bad mistake with my Shuttle and he got away. I then lost. Still, if it weren't for one cm, I would've had him.

I like Col. V w/ a HLC, but I can't spare the points anywhere else. He does alright as is.

The Shuttle can use Adv. Sensors to boost w/ Engine Upgrade and then do a sharp 2-turn, which is red. It turns him around pretty well. It really makes it worth while. Also, the Weapons Eng. is great for Col. V. I'd love to have points for the title, but think the other options are better.

I like Turr Phennir and like his ability to shoot, and then use PTL to boost + barrel roll out of the way. Against high PS targets, he needs to watch out, but he's great for lower than himself. I need that shield on him as he does take hits now and again. I sometimes use him to bait someone with the option of firing at him at Range 3 to try to spread out their fire. Without a Targeting Computer, I consider him the most sacrificial.

I like to put the Shuttle and Defender together and the Interceptor flanking on the approach. Try to have the Interceptor come in and maybe draw the fire off one or two guys to keep the Shuttle alive. Have Col. V fire at range 3 with the shuttle. Then, have the Shuttle bump into something while the Defender K-turns and fires. Mix it up after that. It works pretty well. I've beaten Phantom lists with it. I've not had a lot of experience vs. the bigger ships, though.

Turr and Carnor are my two favorite squint and I really debated which one to add to this list.

I've typically had some poor experiences with shuttles and I had thought to just keep him to the rear so to speak and use the title to aid vessery while potentially take potshots and adding some board control to the middle.

But I do like that shuttle load out. Might have to give it a go.
