Piles and Piles of Tokens

By Biophysical, in X-Wing

Just playing around a little bit, and I realized you could do this:

Mandalorian Mercenary 35

PTL 3

Recon Specialist 3

HLC 7

Total 48

You can go crazy offense (saving a little for defense) by doing TL/Focus for your HLC shot and using a focus for a defense roll. You could also go Evade/Focus to get 1 Evade and 2 Focus, one of which you could use to boost an attack. Obviously it's action intensive, and therefore susceptible to blocking, but 1 Evade + 2 Focus on an AGI 2 ship with 10 hp is pretty stinking tough. It also hits pretty hard, and you can have two. It's not Fat Han tough, but in some ways it's not that much less than Fat Han tough.

-Both have an Evade action

-Falcon has 3PO for an automatic, Firespray has 2 dice with Focus

-Falcon has more hit points and Boosts at PS9, Firespray is going to be shot at more often

-Falcon has turret with lots of re-rolls that's pretty much action independent, Firespray has a really hard-hitting attack

-Firespray costs less

If you took two, you have enough points for a couple Seismic Charges, some Illicit Upgrade, or to upgrade one Merc to Kath Scarlet for even more hitting power. Either way, you probably try to do as many long range shots as possible to soften things up and take out blockers. Once you have some freedom of movement, you tank up (Focus/Evade) with whoever has taken more damage and you go offensive (TL/Focus) with whoever hasn't. On it's own, it's probably okay with a Z-swarm or with some support ships, and could make a lot of really good use of a Wingman support ship.

If you take the K4 security droid instead of the Rec Spec you get a TL through shedding the stress from PTL'ing Evade into Focus.

If you put on the Feedback Array as well you could end your turn with one of each of the following tokens:

Evade

Stress

Ion

Focus

Target Lock

Mandalorian Mercenary (35)
Push the Limit (3)
Heavy Laser Cannon (7)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Feedback Array (2)

K4 Security Droid (3)

Total: 100
10 hitpoints each. PS 5 + 5, 10 tokens a round if you so choose. 10 times 10 squadpoints.

Good call on the Security Droid. I had forgotten about that one. That gives you a little less action dependence, and makes you more well rounded on most turns.

The Title of this made me think it was going to be a discussion of how FFG hates trees. So many tokens, templates, rulers, and markers.

Heck, that's nothing compared to the reams of paper GW uses to print 4 pages of poorly tested rules.
