Your top wanted characters

I've seen folks ask for Herglics and Farghuls in other threads, too. But those species are barely featured in the EU, so I never realized they were fan favorites. What do folks like about them? (Please read this as genuine curiosity, not a passive-aggressive attack on the idea of them being included in the line!)

farghuls are just fun. they love to play pranks and make bad jokes and gamble. and cheat (all.in good.spirit).plus the neko factor.b

edit: I had one who was addicted to cream

Thanks to the darkest corners of the internet, this brought out terrible thoughts about a catgirl furry addicted to "cream"

I hope that "Tatooine Human" is a joke. I don't recall anything that made them special. Or were you talking about the Tusken Raiders?

Virgin birth, extreme midichlorian count, saviours of the galaxy in karate suits... Sounds pretty special to me!

OK, if I can ask a followup question: Understood on the Herglics. The RPG EU has done a good job establishing them as a prominent species, one with their own territory, similar to Bothans or Hutts in that regard. And I can see the appeal of a big-boned species who aren't necessarily bruisers.

As for Farghul, though: There are tons of cat races in Star Wars (Togorians, Trianii, Catumans, Tinnell, Horansi, Srrors'tok, etc.), but Farghul get called out more often than any others I've seen. Is it the fact that they're rogues with pointy ears? (Again, no judgement. Just curious. :))

you just summed up the matrix. :/

bob. I would swear you we're trolling me. I had to look up most of these species.

farghuls are fun loving rogues with pointy ears (and isn't that awesome enough) that have been a staple since d6. the rrpga even made am adventure for them.

some of the species you mentioned some of the species you mentioned have rare and obscure appearances. the tinnell, for instance we're on there weblinks, now defunct. that at a time when only a quater of America had the internet. farghuls, on the other hand, we're on 2 d6 source books, both the species books for d20 and revised, as well as the core worlds (you're on a gaming forum expect us to ask for the gaming books or the movies).

farghuls are fun loving. they are fun play for for it. you can let out your silly side. you can put buckets of water above doors and laugh most of the other feline.species are warriors. the caumans biggest goal in life is to eat your face. its like saying, I would like to play an elf wizard. and the GM says, how about an orc barbarian. they have two arms and two legs.

some of them have both problems, like caumans, again. not only warriors, also only appeared in only one comic in 1978. the hasani, all the fun of the Hindi caste structure and lion maulings that only appeared in one Yoda novel

its more than just saying I want to play a cat. its saying, I want to play a FUN cat.

Honestly, I think it's just the fact that every image of the Farghul makes them look cool. I mean look at this!

How could you not want to play that guy with a new Gambler or Gunslinger specialization?

Sorry, miishelle, no trolling intended. I think I get it now. I was going to argue that the Togorians and Trianii have been around for as long, but your comment "I want to play a FUN cat" sums up the difference nicely. :)

This game really does scream out for a playable species, droids, ships, planets splatbook at some point, the old WEG line really defined so much of the EU it would be nice to see that kind of attention to detail.

glad I could help, bob. :D

I think I am just going to take your word for it.

Wow, so hard to pick just ten! I'd like to see (in no particular order):

Lutrillian

Jawa

Ugnaught

Snivvian

Gamorrean

Whiphid

Saurin (would LOVE to know how and why they separated from the Trandoshans)

Bimm (both varieties, I guess)

Devaronian

Ewok

Yes, this is all OT. But I'm happy for pretty much anything from the films to show up. But if I were to expand with my favorite five EU species, I'd add:

Squib

Verpine

Chubbit

Sith Pureblood

Zeltron

If I ever veer away from movie-only species in my pet project (see sig), I'll likely do some of these (the ones that aren't already i the Unofficial Species Menagerie).

Those are some great picks. I second pretty much all of these!

My vote goes for: GM Hooly! :D  :D

I see... a farghul hater huh :P we have ways to.deal.with farghul haters here.

*locks you in a room with one and he makes bad pun jokes for an hour*

I hope that "Tatooine Human" is a joke. I don't recall anything that made them special. Or were you talking about the Tusken Raiders?

No, I was referring to Tatooinian Humans, and surviving on a planet like Tatooine would definitely warrant bonuses like survival, resistance to heat, less susceptible to dehydration.

Besides, it would be released in Tatooine source book, which I'd buy before it even finished hitting the press :)

I must admit I'm not very knowledgable on EU stuff so for me wookieepedia really does get a lot of hits when reading this thread.

Normal human with skill selections of a rank in Resilience and a rank in Survival (assuming neither are Career skills) along with selection of desert-appropriate gear is really more than enough. Unlike Corellians and Madalorians, I don't think I've ever heard of a Tatooinian human subculture.

I don't know happy... They do dress differently and I guess living on a planet where water needs to be farmed would be feeding grounds for a very exclusive culture and hardy humans.

But then again I'd rather have stats for Jawa's, Gammoreans (both as pc's) and Tusken Raiders (as npc's).

I wanted to see Caamasi, and they are finally being released in the newly announced Age of Rebellion: Dangerous Allies. However, that book also includes Neimoidians and Gossam, which would be among my least hoped for alien races.

Assuming Edge of the Empire puts out another region sourcebook in addition to the final two career supplements, we could expect at least nine more playable species, possibly more. Beyond that, we have no idea what other material EotE might produce.

For nine potential slots, there are only a few that I could make a case must be in EotE; that would simply make so much more practical narrative sense as fringe characters rather than Rebels or Jedi. Those are Gamorreans, Jawas, Tusken Raiders, and Mandalorian Humans.

Well...by definition, every planet, if not each region of each planet has a unique sub-culture, and as many times the planet Tatooine has been visited in movies, games, books, tv series, and other cannon and eu sources, it is one of the most popular planets in the universe.

Not to mention two of the most iconic characters from Star Wars grew up there. It is well within reason to say that Tatooine is very likely to have a source book for these reasons. With the harsh desert life style, simple theory of evolution would suggest that people who couldn't survive there die off, and the ones who did live carry on, passing on their traits that allowed them to survive. For that in game mechanics, that could be shown with built in talents for survival, and perhaps allowing more then two points in resilience at character creation.

All in all, I wouldn't be to heart broken without a Tatooinian Human added, just that their existence can be justified. I mostly want Jawa from my list, hence why it was listed so many times :D
