Sharing a custom game mat design

By Otherworlder, in The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game

So ever since seeing a blog post about the BoardKit for LOTR LCG ( see here ) I have wanted something just like it. But I don't want like four mats just to play a game of LOTR. As I am a card game person I already have way too many mats and don't need to add that many. So I eventually made a double-player mat that is perfect for solo play. I got the final product today and tried a few games on it.

It works really really well. Everything fits and everything makes sense, so I am really happy with it.

Here is the image file for this mat. It is ready to be printed. (I printed it at Inked Playmat. It turned out to be just a little darker than what it looks like on my computer screen, so I do recommend maybe increase brightness and contrast.)

Here is the PSD file if you want to do your own edition. It comes in like a dozen different layers for you editing convenience.

Hope it might be of use to some one! :)

Hi Otherwolder,

When I read your post, I was happy to see my mats inspired you to make your own. Secondly, it got me thinking again about using Inked Playmats for LOTR LCG player mats. I had not gone that route initially so I could experiment at a lower cost of production and because I live in Montreal, Canada. Shipping for me is slow and expensive from the States even if we're so close. Two months ago, I created a new player mat design for Inked Playmats. I like the result. I posted an article on it on the Boardkit projet blog . I call it my Dark Canvas. Here how it looks. Thanks for getting me to try Inked Playmats finally. Still very expensive and slow to deliver, but very nice. FYI, this version of the player mat is focused on solo play.

Cheers,

LoC

What are the outer dimensions of your playmat?

LordofChance, do you chance to have a psd, editable version of this layout? Mostly to put a certain piece of art on it.

I sure can. I've added a link to a PSD file on the BoardKit downloads page for it. I included under one of the layer groupings this and other more colourful backgrounds as examples.

Cheers.
