No new commander in the Neb-B expansion?

By dpb1298, in Star Wars: Armada

Is anyone else thinking that there may not be a new Rebel Commander in the Neb-B expansion. They never mentioned one in the new preview. I think this may be to keep the available commanders balanced for each faction.

They probably do want to keep the number of commanders equal, and I think that's also why they didn't release Wedge as a commander in Wave 1, since that would limit options (Either Wedge as a commander or as a fighter), and ditto for Vader.

Since there is a "Salvation" title in Nebulon-B expansion, I'm still hoping for Juno Eclipse as either a commander or at least as a crew card.

Well, according to the spoiler, there are only two upgrade cards in the corvette and Neb B expansions (Title and XX9 Turbos in the Neb B; 1-2 titles and Raymus in the Corvette).

I would be surprised if there are zero upgrade cards in those expansions. Has that ever happened for any of their other products?

Point is, we dont know 100% of the cards in the expansions. E.G. Director Isard is visible in the Victory expansion. Is she a commander, or just a character card???

If you read the discriptions there are 8+ cards and Isard is a crew. Motti is in the Victory as the Commander.

I very much doubt there will be different numbers of Commanders on each side, as that is a big balance issue. Also given that they's stated only 1 commander per faction comes in the Core I doubt any expansion would have more than a single commander.

Vader is in the TIE Advanced in the Imperial Fighter Expansion. (4th card from the left).

Edit: thought you meant we wont see wedge or vader at all rather than one or the other, but yes, both are in the expansions and both are marked as unique cards.

There's 8 cards in the Neb Expansion.

There's 8 cards in the Neb Expansion.

Well thats the first time ever that I am aware of then where the FFG product shot has not shown the entire pack contents.

Every other time certain cards have been face down, but still shown.

My money is on a typo for the 8, that its supposed to be 3, given the number of errors in the Star Destroyer article when it first went live I wouldnt be surprised..

Case in point, the Assualt frigate says "14 upgrade cards" and shows 14 small cards in the picture.

The CR-90 has at least 7 cards given by name, and very likely has a shield/sensor card, but only shows 3 cards.

The Neb has at least 4 cards with it given by name, and very likely has a tech or two, as it has a slot for them.

As others have said, its 8 upgrades (this has been mentioned in a couple of articles, and more than 3 cards have been named for each expansion) in the smaller expansions, and 14 in the larger ones. The pics for CR90 and Neb are the same ones that have been used for months, so I think they just haven't done new ones yet with the full contents.

As for there being no commander in the Neb expansion, I agree its so that each faction has the same number to choose from to keep that aspect of the game more balanced.

Even with their spoilers I think they like to keep some cards back. I think that it is just as likely that their is a super cool commander that they are going to tell us about later as the fact that their is no commander at all.

I would look at it more as each commander seems designed with a specific role in mind. Not necessarily ship, as the neb b is the generalist ship for the rebels. Decent command stats, decent defense tokens. I think they didn't put a commander in to promote its generalist nature.

(Also there is a distinct parity for both factions. Tarkin is foiled by Bel iblis, screed by dodanna, motto by mothma. So a commander with the nebulon would break that parity)

I'm really hoping for Juno Eclipse as a crew card in the Neb-B as well.

Looking at the pictures of the gladiator there is an admiral card and its not screed!

Assuming that the point values are appropriate, one side or the other having one more available choice for a one-of slot would not be a significant balance issue

There will not be a commander with the Neb B. To quote from https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2015/3/16/ready-for-battle/

...when the first wave of Armada expansion packs arrives... Both the Imperials and Rebels gain two different commanders around which they can build their fleets
