Do the +10 health points from the "Legendary" card apply to the wounded side?

By Soapy, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hey guys!

Are the +10 health points from the "Legendary" card applied only once on the hero or do you get another +10 health points when the hero card is flipped to the wounded side?

Not sure about this one but I lean toward "another +10 hp when wounded". After all, if you managed to wound a hero while he's having 10 more hp, it should not be too hard to eliminate it without the 10 hp bonus.

Another way I understand it, is that since the card does not state anything about the hero being wounded, the effect of the legendary card is applied wether the hero is wounded or not. When the hero is wound, you flip the card and remove his damage tokens.

Learn to play guide, page 8 :

When a hero is defeated for the first time during a mission, he discards all damage tokens from his Hero sheet and flips his Hero sheet to the wounded side.

The "legendary" reward card is still in effect after flipping the hero to wounded side. So yes. The hero has +10 health even when wounded.

If you think it does not apply, then you should also remove the second activation token when the hero becomes wounded since it is the same card that gives the bonus. :)

Of course the Legendary card is still in effect, but you could really see it either way.

You can't compare it to the second activation token. The +10 health were there, but have been depleted.

If you get another +10 health when the card is flipped it equals +20 health points in total.

I guess this is really a question for the developers.

Can you rest back to 20-24 health if you are not wounded? By your logic those 10 health cannot be recovered if you lose them even while being healthy. Do you lose the 10 extra first?

The card adds the health to your stat. You do not have health points. Health defines how many damage tokens you can accumulate before you have to flip to wounded or withdraw NOT how many health points you can lose.

the health still apply.

other cards add health. like armors. you wear them and use them no matter you are healthy or wounded, and you have the bonus always. Why the legendary (or heroic card) would be different?

the game tries to be balanced for 4 heroes. When you play with 3 heroes, heroic cards add +3 health to every hero, for a total of +9 for rebels, and the extra activation token ( i know is not exact, but is like having another hero). for 2 heroes, then you use legendary cards +10 health. A total of +20 and 2 activation tokens (this time is like having 2 more heroes), so you always play with something similar to having 4 heroes (both in health pool for your side, and activations)

I think your explanation concerning the balancing is reasonable.

But you could argue that the wording on armors is just the same as on the Legendary card. The armor simply stats +3 health. Legendary stats +10 health. Without your explanation in the back of your mind there really is no difference.

Just so I understand this, I propose a this hypothetical situation:

  • She is playing Diala and Jyn and I'm playing the Imperials. She receives the legendary card for both giving each hero an extra activation and +10 health (Diala = 24 Health, Jyn = 22 IIRC)
  • Game begins and I'm rolling like a champ and focusing all of my attacks on Diala. In two turns, I've caused 24 points of damage to her reducing her to zero (0) wounds. She flips Diala's card over to the wounded side. Her wounds reset.
  • I now have to deal another 24 points of damage to Diala to remove her from the game.

Is that correct?
