Notes from the kennesaw (north Georgia) store chanpionship

Interceptors won the store championship this thread is literally based on. Second seed going into the top 8. Surely they aren't that fragile.

Interceptors are my favorite ship. They have great firepower and mobility.

But if you screw up they are VERY fragile.

I was running Soontir, Carny and Turd, all 3 PTL, with Soontir and carny running TC/Stealth. And while the evades and focus are really nice and those targetting computers made my damage output incredible, being blocked/turreted instakilled them.

In this case, I blame my own moves/strategies, but that's my point, they are INCREDIBLE ships that are INCREDIBLY fragile. Also, you can't really go against a turret ship in them and expect to win in a straight fight, that shuttle probably helped a lot there. I'd take Kagi rather than Turd.

TL:DR: Interceptors are unforgiving if you screw up.

X-wings in the top 4? But I thought they sucked?

Not just x wings.

Rookies.

That beat out phantoms to get there.

I had to fly like a madman to do so (I did a 4 forward through an asteroid to block a decloak, twice) but nothing in this game is infallible against a good pilot.

Also, Wedge, Luke, and Wes. There were plenty of boom or bust moments, but I will continue to take my chances. I think our results will still not be enough to convince people that X-wings are still competitive.

It was a close match that went to time against those rookie X's.definitely fun flying a whisper that went untouched for the better part of 45 minutes. I'm definitely kicking myself for decloacking away off a target locked x with only 3 hits left. I feel like that was my only misplay in in the top 8 cut.

I do feel it's worth mention that deci builds were the ones leading the pack coming out of Swiss so While I think anti-meta builds were doing great at this store championship. It really comes down to the pilot behind the build.

hey now, i got the shields off.

that first match we had during swiss went even worse for whisper.

I agree, but better for the team overall, I'll take that trade any day of the week. And I wasn't saying that you didn't hit whisper at all just a vast majority of the time he went that way.

If anyone thinks that boost/barrel roll is an after thought of your maneuver, then they are playing interceptors the wrong way. Also, when it comes to survivability, I believe boost/barrel roll are equally as effective as shields on an x-wing. When autothrusters come out, I will definitely test them out, but right now I'm happy with Carnor and Soontir the way they are.

Moreso, I'd say, excepting only fights against turrets and swarms.

There is no defense better than not being able to be shot, after all :)
