Loving game - better balance?

By Fudwicket, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

My friends and I are really enjoying the game. We are only 3 players and are working our way through the book of scenarios. So far found a couple of them really unbalanced but we were wondering if it was the combination of heroes we were using. Is there a ideal 2 heroes party that might improve the balance of the game a bit?

The game plays best, and is most balanced, if you play with 4 heroes. I normally play OL, and if I only have 2 players present, they will each play 2 heroes a piece.

Having said that, it is important to understand that certain encounters/quests may still be biased towards the OL and/or the heroes, but overall, throughout an entire campaign, things are pretty well balanced.

Welcome to Descent, Fud. As A2C said, keep the group at 4 heroes--I play with my 2 daughters and they each play 2 heroes.

One thing that has helped us is to remember the big picture: a single game is the campaign and each quest is just a small part of it. One side can win most of the quests and still lose the finale.

Also remember to check the rules frequently as misplaying something can skew the game in significant ways.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the response - was already thinking along these lines we will defo give it a try at the next session.
