The City of Mos Shuuta

By Kainrath, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I always appreciate solid setting information.

So, I thought i'd pop on and give an update on this project...

It's become a bit of an example on how not to do an rpg fan book. I've had 3 jobs over the last year, and material for it has been written on all 3 pcs i've had at those jobs, along with on my phone, tablet, and home laptop. Originally, everything was in a word document in Dropbox, but I was having issue with my phone not synching changes back. So I was maintaining 2 versions, and updating both, and doing notes in a physical notebook. My most recent job only uses Google Docs, no office apps installed at all, but the account was not accessible from outside our network, so had to do changes in google docs, export to word, do changes at home, reimport... And then, I lost my notebook, and my usb stick with the export on, after i'd done a load of work...

I've badgered on, and currently, the doc is around 27000 words, and 70 pages... It contains:

Section 1: Tatooine - this section takes a brief look at the history and culture of the planet - DONE

Section 2: Mos Shuuta - this section takes a more detailed look at the geology and history of the mesa itself and the surrounding area. - DONE

Section 3: Mesa Locations - the section looks at the 61 (!?!) locations on the mesa, the people who inhabit them, and their motivations. Sidebars in this section detail additional information about Tatooine and the Star wars universe, or provide adventure hooks. - 75% Done, a couple of sidebars to finish writing, and npc stats to finish importing

Section 4: Teemo’s Palace - this section expands on the information about the internals of Teemo’s palace from The Long Arm of the Hutt - DONE

Section 5: Rogue’s Gallery - this section expands on the characters included in the mesa locations, and gives you a wider cast of characters to fill out the Cantina, or who are waiting in line at Baba’s Grill. - 50% done, my notebook had all my nopcs in it...

Section 6: Creatures and Threats - this section describes the various creatures that can threaten the mesa. 75% done - need to finish my write up of tusken raiders

Section 7: Desert Hardware - this section details the vehicles found on the mesa, and gives indepth information about the more unique pieces of equipment that can be found on the mesa - vehciles are 80% done, just need pretty stats importing, other hardware is barely started

Section 8: 10 Things To Do on Tatooine When a Hutt Wants you Dead - this section gives you 10 modular encounters to occupy your characters while they are in Mos Shuuta - Not started - this was all in my notebook - might drop this section

I'm aiming to have the first 7 sections done and handed over to Kainrath to make into a pretty version by the end of november

Well, that was a timely thread bump. My players are off to Moss Shuta this weekend to confront a hutt in Teemo's palace (we're KotOR setting - so it was one the previous owners long, long before Teemo). Consider this printed!

Are there any other great pdf fan supplements like this? I would love to find more like this?

There's lots in the stickied 'compiled resources list' topic in this forum. Off top of my head, there's the star wars rebels book, one shot first series of linked adventures, starship repair guide, a corellia/hutt/tatooine set of books with simple maps, species guide... all worth a download!

Nice work. I think I might have downloaded a previous version, so I'll check it out when I get the chance.

Good luck and hopefully it keeps going smooth for you and your family.

Okay, I had a quick skim over lunch and it yielded a couple of good ideas that I can strip-mine. On the editing front, I spotted some minor spelling errors here and there - but otherwise it looks pretty good (if incomplete).

Once I try out what I have in mind on my players this weekend, I'll post the results for you to use or ignore as you see fit.

Desslock, did you make note of the errors? I know there's some where the autocorrect on the phone did some funky changes, but I thought i'd caught them all now. There's a few words though, like fragile, that both Google docs and word keep telling me are spelt wrong...

No I didn't - but after tonight, I'll take a moment and see if I can find them again.

Unfortynatly the link for the pdf is not working. Is anyone can send me the file by email?

Not sure whats going on, as the link Kainrath just shared looks to be the same as he used on the first page...

I've got 1 sidebar to complete, and 2 or 3 npc's left to finalise the spec's on, then i'll be passing it over the final version to Kainrath to do his amazing layout work on

It's not going to be as coplete as i wanted,it's only going to be the first 5 chapters i listed above, rather than having the equipment, creatures and adventures, but I simply don't get enough time during my lunch break, which is now the only computer I have access to, to finish the rest, though thats still about 70 pages of content before kainrath makes it look better!

Awesome, sharing a link to this post on my blog!

Nevermind...old reply.

Only one complaint...

calling Mos Shuuta a city is like calling a Triumph 2-seater a lorry.

That’s 75 pages of hard work there, dude. Thank you so much!

None of the links I have tried seem to work and I can only find the 26 page version - does anyone have a link to the "full" 75 pager?

thanks!
