It is the Andromeda Galaxy. Boom.
So the Star Wars Galaxy was found...
If that is the case the Vong could be in OUR galaxy

The what? I do not recall any such aliens existing in Star Wars. Ever.
I assume they were in those 'prequels' I never watched.
Something to do with 'midicholorians'...
Edited by MaeloraWell the Andromeda galaxy is over 200 million light-years away from us so that would explain why we're only just getting these stories about something that happened long, long ago.

Not quite: 2.5 million
Maybe we are the Yuuzhan Vong....PLOT TWIST!

You know, I thought it sounded wrong when I read it but I thought - if that's what my search results say, who am I to argue? So 2.5 million, not 250 million. Thank you!

Hmm. But they appeared, "A long time ago" in the AndromeStar galaxy. So that would mean we are descendants of the Vong who have somehow greatly changed in appearance. And completely against all odds, our evolved-Vong selves happen to look exactly like those beings our ancestors fought long ago in the AndromeStar galaxy.
Perhaps our defeated Vong anscestors retreated back to the Milky Vong galaxy and contemplated how these beings had defeated the powerful Vong. Perhaps they borrowed some of the DNA of this obviously powerful race and created a hybrid that they plopped down on a planet called Earth. Since, they've been watching from afar contemplating whether their hybrid children are worthy of becoming the new Vong or the entire experiment scrapped in a Vong vs. Human crusade. Those saucer ships that grabbed Uncle Tom and experimented on him might just be the Vong taking a gander at their experiments. Perhaps they keep the rare ones that have a high midichlorian count. Those force-using Vong-indoctrinated captives who look like us could easily have already infiltrated Earth as special sleeper cells in case they decide to destroy us all. Perhaps some of us don't even realize it.

that would explain why we don't have the force
Leon Thomas did a pretty good.job of explaining why it is in Andromeda in this bid here: http://blip.tv/renegadecut/56-earth-in-the-star-wars-universe-6734747

Yes I can see why they'd want to get as far away as possible from that Holiday Special!
Edited by copperbellI have no clue what a Yuuzhan Vong is (Google is my next stop) but dropping moons on people seems just a small ways into the overkill category. But I'd expect Chewbacca to catch it and fling it back. Unless it smelled delicious.

well, it is made out of cheese
I thought that the Vong, for those who acknowledge anything after the Yub Yub song in Jedi as canon, were from one of the satellite galaxies of the Star Wars galaxy?

technically they were from the star wars galaxy. left then came back. Or some such is my understanding.
I should point out that moon didn't survive after the Vong used it as a shield against Chewbacca... that much awesome wrapped up in a Wookie its no wonder time rewrote itself as a result!
So doing an image search for the andromeda and funny thing...It looks like the maps we have been using all along ![]()
So, I had no idea how much of the sky Andromeda actually takes up. It's actually bigger than the full moon, but only the nucleus is bright enough to see normally, which is why it just looks like a star to us. But here's how it would look in the sky if it were brighter:

And it's going to get brighter, as our two galaxies are set to collide with each other. It also can't be seen well, like the Milky Way itself, if you live in/near any major city on this planet due to the light pollution from us stinking humans.
