Multiple IG-88's?

By Brence, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

Am I the only one with a smidge of hope the IG-88 pack will see multiple IG-88 cards?

I mean, there are 4 models out there who are seen cooperating in the same battle at times. I hope there is either an IG-88 card which can be taken besides the current IG-88 or maybe more elegant even, a Skirmish upgrade allowing additional IG-88 characters at a good charge.

Mind you Im not talking about this cause IG-88 rules skirmish, just love the fluffyness of an IG-88 list with for instance 2 IG's and some added droid grunts :)

Well, they did four versions of his ship in the upcoming wave of Xwing. I could see it as a possibility. Although doesn't look like it in the card spread from the preview. Would like to see something with his multiple personalities in the game.

Maybe somewhere down the line we will get alternate cards and minis for figs like Luke as Jedi etc.

I can see us getting another version of Luke and others down the road. Way down the road though.

As far as multiple IG-88s, I agree. That would be really cool. Maybe just even a Skirmish Upgrade card that says you can use two of the same IG-88. Just ID them and you're good to go. That seems plausible.

Yep! However multiple cards would be even better as the IG's actually do have different roles to play. Maybe one support oriented one for instance. One can dream :) .

Let's consider its deployment card;

That dot next to its name makes it a unique character, so high odds are that the IG-88 deployment card included in the Villain Pack will be the same. The only workaround would be a card, as others have suggested, that allows you to treat IG-88 as a non-unique character.

Or - "IG-88 B" etc

It'd be a nice, characterful option - and, as noted, would match what you get in X-wing.

Either a skirmish upgrade, or a grey, non-elite version of IG-88 would work.

Nope a command card, or possibly having rules on some variants to overrule (latter case unlikely command cards more elegant and not having it on the 1st card is fairly telling). The rules are quite clear different versions of uniques (not that any exist) are not allowed unless a card overrules that restriction, small name variations don't count.

  • IG-88 B , assassin droid would be a different named unit and as unique cards are only identified by name you would be allowed both

You'd be surprised the LCG community has gotten 3 copies of Luke already! Core, First Cycle, Jedi Deluxe Box.
