X-Wing Micro Hangars (inspired by DarkPadawan)

By SirWillibald, in X-Wing

Whuuuuuuaaaa?????? So cool!

Foamcore boards. Good idea. Dang, if only we knew the size of the Raider, too. I'd love to add some clips to the boxes. I've got some spare laptop bag shoulder straps. It would be great to make the boxes with built in straps for carrying. I'd need to find two latches at a hardware store. Some way to hold them together?

Oh, I could find some foam for the front of the ship to prevent it from bouncing around.

When you print them on card stock are taping or gluing them? Or do they just fold together?

Any of these for sleeved damage cards?

Won't be using these myself as I swear by my KR cases but wanted to say what a fab job.

The external artwork is superb, cost efficient and is possibly better than if a professional company brought them out.

Top marks my good man......to you for carrying it on and to DarkPadawan for concept/creation......top marks :D

You have to fold and glue, but it's not that difficult.

 Sorry, don't see your point? These aren't for cards at all, only for the ships. If you want something for (FFG) sleeved damage cards, go here, for example:

Thanks for the praise, you're welcome! Currently working on an optional "expansion module" because there have been quite a few requests to add the dials/cardboard pilots/bases/pegs as well...

Yeah figured it was fold and glue. I have all my rebel ships and most of my imperial stuff done. This is easily the best storage solution out there. I had battle foam and a big pack, big Plano tackle boxes and that stuff all cost waaay more, didn't protect nearly as much, and now I can put all my stuff in 1 easy to use container!

When I said cards I meant tuck boxes for like your damage deck, pilot cards, and stuff like that! I hope you keep making more!

Thanks! Of course I intend to do more and continue both projects, it's too much fun not to!

The BGG file page for the MicroHangars got a new first comment with more infos, photos, "roadmap" and instructions for the all new GearBoxes! The file is still awaiting BGG's approval, but when it's done you'll have the additional option to build even more boxes to store dials, ship tokens, bases and pegs:

Of course this is completely optional and won't prevent you from just using the MicroHangars (or don't using them at all, of course ;) ).

I had the opportunity to see these in person last night and they are AWESOME!!! Everyone at the store was interested. A big thank you to the creator(s)....now where did I put the card stock?

Can I send you a couple of quid for a beer m8?

This is some sterling work you are doing.

Thanks, nice little story, I'll relay this to DarkPadawan, as well.

:D You'd better not, v1.0 of the GearBoxes had enough unspotted mistakes being sober. v1.1 is on it's way...

And thanks for the big compliment, I really appreciate that! And thanks for improving my english vocabulary, btw... ;)

I love these everyone at my store championship Saturday and game night last night were asking about them, thanks so much!

I was putting these together last night. I'm looking forward to taking the bubble wrap taking up extra space in my Plano.

I started making these and they are fantastic.

And then I bought 2 of everything from Scum and Villainy. I am obviously ok for the Ywings and Z95s. But I implore whoever is designing these to make boxes for the Scyk, Star Viper and IG-2000.

I will pay you 5 internetz!

Not bad idea at all.

If someone start to produce it in plastified cardboard... I BUY.

Another update:

The GearBoxes have moved to v2.0, now including boxes for all the wave 6 stuff! A few minor mistakes have been corrected and you now have multiple boxes per page.

Enjoy or ignore:
