I know the rules are mildly different but I was wondering if anyone has made any attempts to play the two brands of ships together or seen any house rules around the internet about such things?
All my google searches return are a bunch of reviews of the two games side-by-side.
I know the scales are off but I was thinking it wouldn't be too hard to rejigger the rules so you could play both kinds.

Not really. The trouble with attempting to combine the two games is one is about dog-fighting squads of small, one-manned fighters (okay some slightly larger ships with a crew member or two as well) while the other one is about 1 on 1 capitol ship battles. The actions are different in each game, the power of the star trek ships, if you are going for accuracy, would have to be increased a ton more to accurately reflect the giant ships that they are when compared to x-wing ships. Otherwise they would just get eaten up real fast. One game relies a lot more upon tricky maneuvers and out-thinking your opponent while the other does not.
There was someone on here recently who reported playing a game using ships from both.
