Multi-Player Rules Query

By Musavo, in CoC Rules Discussion

Hi guys,

I couldn't see this questioned being asked before;
during a 3 player game does phase 5 (Story) have just one "Opponent commits" sequence or as many as there are opponents?

The reason I ask is because the Official Multiplayer rules do not say that there is more than one phase, which means if the 3rd player wants to play an event they have to play it before the 2nd player chooses to commit. It specifically says "Sequences in Green boxes cannot be interupted by any actions or responses"

Appreciate any replies

cheers
Rick

Hi Rick.

If I do remember multiplayer game well, you've got multiples steps. I have'nt play for quite a while now !!!

Attack commits its character

(Can polay actions and events)

Defender 1 can commmits,

In case he does, he's the only one who is able to commit characters.

In case he does'nt, the Second player has the opportuniy to commit. In case the second player doesn't, the third will then have the possibility to do so.

(Can then play actions and events)

Then stroy resolves normally (struggles+succes and so on)

Yes as Prodigee stated the option to be the "opponent" passes from one player to the next during the storyphase until one of them accepts or all have been offered the opportunity.

This does not however limit any actions or events occuring during the storyphase to only the active player and the "active opponent". Any player in the multiplayer game can still take actions during the "White Box" parts of the phase. And everyone in the multiplayer game resolves Disrupts or Forced Response 's as normal.

Thank you for the replies.

Just one query though, because the Action Phase is just before an opponent commits do all opponents have to play actions before they know who is commiting to the story or is it taken as "Action Phase/Commit Phase" for each opponent?

For example, in a three player game the active player commits to a story, opponent one then declines to oppose, can opponent two then play actions or has he missed the chance to do so because it is now the "Commit Phase"? Hope that makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Rick

After the active player commits their characters it then enters into a "White Box" Actions may be taken section of the storyphase. During that phase priority passes from the active player, to player number 2, then player number 3, etc... Once all players have passed taking actions it then moves to the "Green Box" Opponent (non-active player)commits characters to oppose yours portion of the storyphase. No additional actions can be taken at this time until; A. Someone decides to commit characters (and does), or B. Everyone declines commiting characters in order. Once one of those two have occurred it then enters into another "White Box" portion where priority passes around again and everyone gets a chance to take actions.

The important part being: Opponent 2 must either take actions prior to (all players) entering the "Green Box" Opponent commits ... portion, or after that portion has fully resolved as noted above.

**Edit** I edited out the last portion of my comments, upon personal review, they were in error.
