ARC 170s (again)

By mazz0, in X-Wing

Same old thread. Same faces, different part of the year.

I intend to keep necro-ing it until FFG make the **** ship just to shut me up! :P

Keep the dream alive! And keep pissing Hobojebus off on this topic. Always a good decision.

Don't be immature. That's barely 40% of my motivation :P

So, in Shattered Empire there are pilots flying N1s just after Endor (I won't mention names in case they're spoilers), so there's an X-Wing expansion nobody can object to right there, right? They seemed to fare rather well against a number of TIEs too, and that's without a certain key element of the ship, so they're obviously pretty good fighters. It also proves Disney aren't intent on ignoring prequel content, which some people have suggested.

I'm down with some prequel left overs.

Still treating prequel ships as a probable - but not any time soon.

I'm made more hopeful by this occurrence, both about eventual probability and timeliness. For one thing it indicates there could be other, new, canon sources for prequel leftovers in Civil War era (including the subject of this thread). Also, I don't think there'll be that many new ships in the new film, we've already got the quintessential single seater fighters (though obviously there'll be others, and the alternate colour scheme for the X-Wing), and they started scraping the bottom of the EU barrel a while ago, so new canon + sexy ship surely makes it pretty likely.

its tail gun could do less damage then the other guns

I just saw a rumour that the ARC170, H6 Scurrg, TIE Special Forces and a mando fighter are coming for wave 9

Just saying. Imma take that wager now.

170 and SF Tie could both hit as small based ships with rear arcs

I could see the ARC-170 getting a 3 dice front arc and a 2 dice rear arc. 3 attack from either arc though, would be extremely powerful (and expensive), same with a 2 attack front/rear arc for the SF Tie/FO.

OooooOOOOOooooh!

Gotta say though, at this point I'm more interested in prequel stuff for Imperial Assault. I really want Coruscant and Naboo tiles!

Source??

Would be freaking awesome if true!

I don't put much stock in these rumours given how much people state speculation as fact, but the ARC would fill some Rebel design space that so far hasn't been.

You know wiki`s are written by fans right and so quoting them as if their official is like building a house on quicksand.

The only official place arcs have turned up so far as I know is in tarkin where the imperials used them, and in that book they were described as outdated only five years after the clone wars.

*they're

Anyway, they cite Star Wars Galaxies a source, and I doubt anyone here would be willing to go and investigate that first hand even if it were still possible, so good look refuting it! Furthermore, I think it's already clear that X-Wing is Legends based, not New Canon, so Galaxies is as good as, if not better, than Tarkin as source material.

No point in refuting it- though you had to get it via Rebel quest, you never lost the ability to fly it / the certification for it. So yeah, it was in both fleets. As was the ETA-2.

I think you can find the source on the wave 9 thread now. I saw it on a facebook group I belong to sourcing a spanish dealers ordering sheet.

I see the Arc-170 like this: Cannon, 1 Crew, Astromech, 1 or 2 torpedoes. Crud dial. And an auxillay arc.

We should keep this page going until the arc becomes a reality! Just like the assault gunboat page!

If the ARC becomes a thing before the Gunboat that will be incredibly entertaining. There will be so much whining. XD XD XD

And for some reason I'm sure there would be a fair amount of accusing Disney of the travesty.

Cannon? All it had was it's 2 friggin huge primary lasers and the 2 rear ones.

This was my take that I made in 5 minutes without thinking it through at all. Probably has some errors.

no, it's never going to be imperial

the color scheme is all wrong (completely **** with the available palette) and it screws with the continuity the game is set in (which is everything post prequels)

these guys are going to be rebels. They were made to try to recapture the OT magic by evoking the image of ye ole X-wing and, at the point in time of the game, they're outdated as hell so they're going to the faction that loves outdated tech (Rebels or scum; scum either way)

now fluff is all well and good, but it pales next to gameplay consideration

what rebels need now is a nice ordnance boat. Imperials have the bomber, scum has the jumpy, rebels have...the Y? The K? (no k-turn makes life hard; otherwise it's not too shabby). Well, The ARC canonically had proton torpedoes so there's the perfect platform for you

slap on an arc-only FCS style modification/droid (2 points, once per round, when you spend a TL on an enemy ship you may reacquire a TL on that ship) and let the protons fly!

make it a droid if you want chips; make it a mod if you want r7

finally, 2 dice primary so it isn't overpriced as hell for ordnance, and at least two torp slots

add a crew if you want to have a fun, versatile ship with lots of viable builds (For example, sabine extra munitions and bb-8...hell yes)

It'll likely be a rebel ARC as it's a foil to the TIE/SF.

As a big gunboat AND ARC fan I'll hardly be whining.

Like I said, thought up in 5 minutes, I just picked a faction and went with it. In retrospect, yes, it would be a rebel ship.

I'd like to see the ARC in the game but I will be extremely buttmad if they finally release the SF with aux arc then turn around and say "**** you, rebels get a better one".
