I love how the prequels are so hated that ships from the prequels are far more controversial than ships from random EU comic books. Kind of interesting.
The prequel movie ships are so hated because they're ugly, don't fit with the design style of GCW era ships, weren't particularly powerful in their own era much less GCW, are no longer in use by GCW, and by extension never saw combat in the GCW. They don't belong in a combat miniatures game about the GCW. I don't understand how you don't understand that.
I'm not sure about you but if you ask me, those things look star warsy enough. But, like Sithborg said. It's only because the prequels that people get into a tussy about them.
Guarantee you if The X-Wing came from the prequels, people would think it's stupid- and let's be totally honest, it is a pretty dumb design in many ways. Shoot, most designs in Star Wars are stupid. But, they're also really cool. But **** near everything from the OT gets a pass entirely because it's the OT.
I swear, the prequels are exactly the problem that the Sonic fandom has.
The Sonic fandom looked at the Genesis era with rose tinted glasses, because it'd been so long since any new mainstream Sonic games were released. When they did something different in the late 90s after years of people playing Genesis games, it was reviled because, "Nuh! It's not the same!".
It's the same **** thing with Star Wars. The gap between the OT and PT is massive. People had time to get really attached to the OT and associated EU, and when something brand new came along, it was instantly bad because it was different.
The mindset bothers me, because it's just the same as the Sonic fanbase. You hear that?
The Star Wars fandom can be in many ways equated with the infamous Sonic The Hedgehog fandom.
If that doesn't bother you on some base level I have no idea what does.
