Omnivores for superiority

By WarriorPoet, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm trying to create a squad that has plenty of firepower, manoeuvreability, and health, without any one ship being the linchpin that opponents can take out and then pick apart the weaker ships. I've tweaked this's couple times, but right now, I've got:

Keyan (29)

+Stay on Target (2)

+Ion Torpedoes (5)

Nera (26)

+Fire-Control System (2)

+Flechette Torpedoes (2)

+Munitions Failsafe (1, when I get a Z-95)

Wild Space Fringer (30)

+Proton Rockets (2)

=100 points

When I finally pick up that Z-95, I'm thinking I may swap Prockets for Pulse Missiles, take the Ion torps off Keyan, and give him something else.

Feedback and critique, please!

Nera should be the only one here with ordnance. It just isn't effective on most ships.
Keyan should have Advanced Sensors (from the Shuttle or E-Wing).

The Fringer.... is a weird choice, so I'd consider swapping it for another boat.

Proton Rockets are 3 points, not 2.

I would drop the missiles on the 2400, that way you don't have to care so much which way he's pointing.

With the freed up points you could put a fire control system on Keyan as well which will help him get his torpedos off.

I've yet to see anyone fly a naked wsf, I'd be interested to know how it works!

In the original build, I had Advanced Sensors on Keyan, and the WSF was Eaden with Assault Missiles. What would you suggest instead of ordnance?

Edit: Keyan also had an Ion Cannon

Sorry about that typo, but the build does still total 100 points.

Drop the missiles, switch to Eaden, instead of an FCS on Keyan?

Put title and chewie on Keyan instead of the 5 points you have in torpedoes.

Definitely drop the Prockets on Fringer and upgrade to Eaden Vrill. Lots of ships these days either stress themselves on purpose (PtL, EI) or end up stressed from red maneuvers. Regardless, he has great value w/o any upgrades.

I'd also drop Ion Torps on Keyan and put Adv. Sensors on there. He's now good to go. The two points gives you another Flechette Torpedo on Nera or something crazy like Anti Pursuit Lasers on Eaden. I'd even go so far as to put a cheap EPT on Nera...maybe VI or Adrenaline Rush.

I like the idea of balance in your build...each ship being independent. The rebels are known for group synergy but there are lists out there that has ships that work independent of each other...you just have to find what works for you.

Nera wants Deadeye and 2 x Flechette, ideally.

I like the idea, but it doesn't support my tactic for this build.

Thanks for the input; I used Eaden in the original of this build, but didn't have many stressed opponents. After flying for the first time at my FLGS and watching my fleet crumble after the first volley took out my lead pilot, I decided I wanted to do something slightly unorthodox to prevent that from happening again.
