Engine labels for for the lazy - ready for print.

By Malmer, in X-Wing

After requests for Wave 5 updates in the previous thread , I've decided to go ahead make a new one with a name that'll constitute any further updates. I also updated the old engines with a bit more detail.

When going the digital way instead of painting, why not play the cards fully?

I found the grey engine areas of the big ships a little bit dull. Instead of investing in paint gear, for a likely mediocre end-result, I made these instead.

I had the local copy-shop print out a full A4 label sheet, and I now have a good portion to go around for the people I meet.

So far there's been a few people interested, so I thought I'd might as well share it in here also. If anyone can use it, it's great :)

The file is just a JPG, to keep the size down, but it's still saved in maximum quality (A4, 600dpi, CMYK, no profile included). DropBox download link:

Thank you so much! I had a set of printed engine glows for the YT-1300 and loved it but haven't seen anything until now.

Just curious - what do you print them on?

Go to your local Hobby store model train store. Usually in the paint area you can find printable decal sheets made by Testors. They come in 2 types...clear and white. They are all A4 sized for printing.

Since printers do not print white, if you get the 'clear' decal sheets anything that's "white" will be blank. If you get the 'white' then you will need to trim EXACTLY everything that ou don't want white,

I would go with the clear sheets, then pre-paint the area of the decal white. Then cut out the printed decal and apply it over the white paint.

This will give a bright background for the decal to stand out as well as give you better control over where the white color will be.

To Malmer....You are AWESOME for making these. Thanks.

They're beautiful

What kellyj said :)

If you want more specifics, I'm positive it was Avery J8167.

Love it. Please make Firespray and HWK as well ^___^

Firespray and HWK may be tricky, since those engines are textured/convex, and a decal or sticker wouldn't be perfectly flat against the engine.

Outstanding work. Would a large enough Office Supply store have any kind of clear sticker paper or anything else that would work for printing these?

I'd print it on white labels instead of clear, as the gray visible plastic would make the colors dull.

Wow, great idea! And the photo looks awesome! Was planning to paint my engines when I have some time, but I think I'll go with those stickers for now. Thanks a lot!

Looks good.

Thanks Malmer - printed out a sheet onto white waterslide transfer paper, sprayed with clear gloss (to waterproof my inkjet) and all my models look great... Need to work out a set for my transport....

Do you need to use fit picture to frame or uncheck that? I just want to know to get the size right.

Uncheck everything. It should be printet at 100%, 1:1 :)

Oh wow.

These look fantastic.

This is gonna come off dumb, but I gotta ask. Can a blow dryer do anything for that material?

Will there ever be an update on these awesome engine print outs? I got them on my lambda and yt-2400. How about Huge ships like the Gozanti-Class?

Same

I'm surprised there is still demand for these. Dropbox changed the way file sharing is handled, so I just updated the link accordingly.

I downloaded these back in the day for my Falcon and Lambda. They are great, so a long overdue thank you for making these.

While I'm going the LED route for my Raider, I have to agree that its engine is criminally blank, flat, and boring. I imagine it'd be a real pain to put a sticker on perfectly, though.

The Heroes of the Resistance Falcon luckily comes with great looking prepainted engines, so one less to worry about.

I actually like my stickered Falcon a whole lot more than the pre-painted one.
