Some concerns for in game.

What would everyone think would be the usage amount for various size first aid kit and their limitations?

  1. Basic First Aid Kit (found in most stores) lvl 1 traumas maybe 3 uses
  2. Advanced First Aid Kit (found in first response car/trucks). I am thinking maybe 4-5 uses: lvl 2 traumas
  3. Hospital/Urgent Care/Clinic's lvl 3 traumas only usable while at location

I feel that at some points they could be a bit less nebulous on topics and not leave so much to the DM/GM to prevent arguments with the PC's.

Also worth thinking about, once the power grid shuts down it will only take weeks to a month for any nuclear power plant(s) to become a problem. Maybe not from the main reactor itself, but more from the spent rods which with the pumps off will not have circulating water to get the temp down and so begins a ever increasing radiation zone. What I am not sure of is how long would it take for the main reactor(s) to "meltdown".

Personally I am just going to run it like I do ammo. Uncancelled doubles on negative dice can be used for a run out ammo or uses (if something is deemed to be of limited uses).

It gives me something other than stress to spend those negative dice results on.

Its not a bad idea, but during an apocalypse most clinics/hospitals would probablly be overrun with undead, making it very hard to treat that lvl 3 trauma. That and unless your players are surgeons and doctors most of the equipment at a hospital would be useless.

I think what is most important is what is actually being used for healing the injuries. If all you have is a box of band aids you arent going to be able to fix a broken bone. But you can practically make a splint out of just about anything. Realistically, if you splint a broken bone and never saw a doctor it would heal and you would be able to use it, but you may not be at 100% ever again, maybe only 90%. But Im not a doctor or anything so I dont know.

True, guess just using a logical approach to healing trauma via med kits would be the best approach. It would just be nice to have an across the board approach to to this, as to prevent PC's from bending the DM's will and exasperation to their way haha.

Green herbs.

Wait...wrong zombie-related game. (Altough some of my group have sugested medicinal marihuana as a means to remove Stress)

Don't forget medical supplies in animal shelters, not anything is usable for humans, but should have disinfectants, sterile bandages, etc...

Well if you mix the green herb and the red then... haha. Forgot about Vets.

I'm definitely running at least one more "comical" version of the game, where some more recognizable elements (IE green herbs) may make an appearance.

Also, friends dying via some twist on an in-joke? Well that's just hilarious.

Bonus points if you know anybody called "Barbera".

"They/ we are comming to get you Barbera..."

Good idea, ill pitch it to our GM, maybe play it in teh style of those Paranoia games.

Chances are we'll kill eachother for supplies even before the first zombie shows up. :D

I think I might have the stress wrong on rolls. If doubles don't cancel out stress it counts against you n you can add negative dice quickly in this game. That gets brutal. I'm actually thinking End of the World might be too brutal. Even when you are doing the right thing n succeed in a task you take damage. That leaves me with almost no sense of accomplishment at all. I feel like I might have to be a roach n just scramble from dark corner to dark corner. I know this is the End but a game is also suppose to have something positive happen once in a blue moon or otherwise you might as well start the game with mass suicides

Doubles cancel each other out. A +3 roll and a -3 roll are taken out of the pool and not counted towards your tally. If you fill one stress bar (3 hits) then you subtract one stress from your tally (subtract 2 and so on when you fill more of the bars) This makes it harder to gain stress, as in you get use to it. This is a game of survival not a quest for epic loot etc. As I was explaining to my friends, the game only ends when they die. If they are successful and we play long enough they could be founding fathers of a rebuilt civilization if they wanted to be. It up to them.
