Questions About Timing

By Xandron, in X-Wing

A recent discussion here about the Dauntless title has brought up a few questions about timing.

For those of you who haven't read the Dauntless timing thread, it was about the sequence of when stress is applied and removed. It was decided that if someone performs a green maneuver that causes the Dauntless to collide with another ship, you perform your action from Dauntless, receive the stress token, then the green maneuver clears the stress token.

My two questions about timing are, what happens if a ship with tactician and flechette cannon attacks and hits? Does the damaged ship then have two stress tokens, or does the stress token from the flechette cannon stop the stress token from tactician?

Second, what happens if you use a green maneuver to fly over the new space debris obstacle? Does the green maneuver clear the stress the same as it did in the Dauntless example?

Thank you in advance.

For the first question, the Flechette Cannon stress definitely happens first, because it's triggered when you hit. Tactician isn't triggered until the attack is complete, so your target ends up with two stress tokens.

For your second question, the rules for debris tokens say you add a stress token after the "Check Pilot Stress" step, so you still end up with the stress even if the maneuver that took you into the debris was green.

(Also, for future reference, there's a whole subforum for rules questions!)
