As a bonus, those blister packs also come with Lambdas and E-wings, which are both very usable ships.
Firesprays are very good, even if they're not at the top of the metagame right now, and the people with three Falcons are usually modding one.
No, you don't see more swarms in competitive play is because a high-PS Phantom with ACD can take them apart. (I said "can", not "must".) Swarms just aren't typically set up to handle opponents with very high PS and Agility.
So much agreement across all points, especially the firesprays.
This Wave 5 2-ship upgrades out the butt meta is such a circle jerk that the squads are more geared to take out each other than any other type of list. Phantoms with rebel captives to kill phantoms, Chiraneau with V.I to take the stress from rebel captive for the phantom so that the phantom can kill the phantom without losing ACD and risking the other phantom killing it...
Toss in two Bounty Hunters, a pair of which is barely more expensive than most fatties you see nowadays (66 for both whereas a minimal VI, gunner, EU chiraneau is 56), and holy hell they just plow through them. The sheer bulk and firepower you get for their points just straight up trumps a fattie, and with firing arcs that wide against bases that wide you really have to struggle to not have a shot.
As for swarms not being typically set up to handle high PS (imo, not as much of an issue because blocking can be ridiculous) and high agility, for me it always comes down to high agility. Getting through 4 dice with 2 can be a real pain in the ass ![]()
