I've been constantly shocked by the amount of love for Shadows of the Empire. Both the Novel and Graphic novel were... mediocre at best, but I digress.
I'd like to see some of the archetypes of the rebellion explored a bit more. In the films and EU, most of the rebellion's volunteers were idealistic kids hoping to make the galaxy a better place (Luke, Keyan, Ace, Dak, etc.) - Maybe a character who doesn't start with much in terms of standard abilities, but offers a lot broader and more powerful class cards - a wide-eyed, impressionable kid who brings nothing (initially) to the table but his/her devotion and enthusiasm, willing to take up whatever role he/she can do the most good: A character with more versatility as to what the character's experienced self can be: A larger number of high XP cost cards have prerequisites (of the lower cost cards). You get to chose which direction you want the character to steer his/her career in the Rebellion. A handful of cards aimed at the 'soldier' archetype, a handful more in an engineer//grenadier/AoE type role, and a few cards with a scout type role: information gathering abilities and movement bonuses.
I love the amount of customization available between characters, but a character whose specialization is customization would be fun in and of itself.
I'm also VERY MUCH for the Pilot/Astromech-pair character. I think that fits well into the universe, and adds a dynamic that's otherwise not part of the game.
I'm for anything that adds a bit to the roleplaying aspect of the game. I've said this before but I really think FFG needs to add character bios to help with this.
