This game up at the store championship

Ok if you have the chewy and Lebo build. Lets say Lebo takes a crit, can he look at it to see if determination would work on it and if not chewy uses his DTF and takes the crit? Some people said yes others said once lebo looks at it he can not pass it to chewy. Let me know where in the rules this is covered. Thanks!!!

Leebo's ability states "When you are dealt a faceup Damage card, draw 1 additional Damage card, choose 1 to resolve, and discard the other." Choosing between two damage cards necessarily requires looking at them, so Leebo + Determination can absolutely look at a crit and choose one with the Pilot keyword.

However, Draw Their Fire says "When a friendly ship at Range 1 is hit by an attack, you may suffer 1 of the uncanceled results instead of the target ship." Because the decision to use Draw Their Fire has to made when the friendly ship is hit, you have to decide whether to use Draw Their Fire before any damage cards actually come off the deck.

(Also, for future reference, there's a whole subforum for rules issues, filled with friendly people who love to answer questions like this!)

TL;DR: You have to decide to use DTF before any damage cards are drawn. The relevant rules are the text on the DTF upgrade card, plus the description of the "Compare Results" step on page 12 of the core rulebook.

Thank you! I also found over on board game geek that some stated the same and claimed that an "Andrew" gave him the answer from FFG. Thanks.
