Which List to Fight the Meta at Store championship?

By cubby09, in X-Wing Squad Lists

1. Kite FLiers=100

Han+VI+Jan Ors+C3PO+Eu=56

Corran+R2D2_FCS+PTL=44

have the High PS to counter some lists and corran can mitigatee 3 damage a turn due to jan PTL and R2

2. Besties=99

Admiral Chir +expose+ysanne_reb cap+EI=60

Whisper+FCS+ACD+VI=39

My LGS hasnt caught on to the Ysanne/EI/exposed thing yet....yet :)

3. Sexy Rexy=100

Boba the Fett +VI+gunner+title+EU=Flachette torps=51

Rexler+HLC+LW+stealth=49

Have ahd success against phantoms here. Fett changes firing arc. I have also in round one of combat been able to fire flachettes and get the stress but miss so i gunner and score a hit.

4. Brute Squad=100

Oicunn+determination

BH+rebel captive

OGP

nothing sexy here but has a ton of health and good damage output

My vote goes to 4 & 1 in that order

I vote for besties aka The French Toast, that's what I call that build, and Im using the same list u are :)

No offence, but you seem to asking which meta list to be using to fight the meta. High PS, one large + one small ship seems to be the most popular type of list these days. Only your fourth list doesn't fit the current meta, although the third uses some different ships than are usually seen.

Not saying that's a bad thing, or that your lists are bad - these type of lists are popular for a reason. Just when I heard "fight the meta" I thought you meant coming up with a list that isn't meta which would do well against the meta. This is one of my favourite things to do and why your title drew me in.

As to your question, flying my current "anti-meta" list I would like my chances against the first three lists. Fourth one would scare me a bit just because of how much damage it can take and dish out at the same time.

I guess he wants to fight fire with fire...

That's what I thought at first as well, haha.

Ok then which of these?

Blount+IPM+deadeye

Nera+Ion torp+Flachette Torp+wingman

Dutch+r3a2+flachette torp+ICT

bandit

dutch+ICT

kyle+recon+ICT

Hobbie+r3a2

bandit+IPM+MF

The first one lack firepower so I would go with the second.

But I would change Kyle for someone else:

-Roark could be good against the eventual Phantom;

-A B-Wing with HLC would bring a lot of firepower;

-Same with Wedge while also shooting at PS9;

-A second Bandit and Blount while also giving the IPM to Blount would give you more ship to cover more sight while fishing for highly maneuvrable ship, a R2 on Dutch with the point saved from MF since it is useless on Blount.

dont have MF on blount as it is useless.

the idea behind both builds is not to overpower but to herd. ion-ing phantoms is key so my PS doesnt matter. if the Phantom gets an ion it can decloak next round thereby not attacking. a TL ICT can usually keep it wrangled (theoretically. havent played the list yet. will today and will update). meanwhile the other ships focus on the large ship keeping it ioned and stressed. in such a state it gets no actions or i can walk it off the board (decimator) or walk it onto asteroids (falcon/WSF).

the point of dabbling with this list is to try something unorthodoxed against the meta. If i go offensive with 3 or 4 ships then Im giving up defensive capabilities (bwings with one defense die). if i go super defensive then i give up offense. this list seems to make sense as it splits the difference and is more of a pacing list for a timed event. if i lose one or two ships no big deal compared to my opponent losing an expensive ship

dont have MF on blount as it is useless.

Who spoke about giving MF to Blount?

If you go with Roark instead of Kyle, you save a couple of points and can still ''herd'' since it will also have a Ion turret. Big bonus point though is that it will make one of your ship attack at PS12, aka catch the Phantom with his pants down.

heres an alternate iwas considering with roark

dutch+ICT+r7t1 for arc dodging

Roark+ICT+lando

hobbie+stressbot

bandit+IPM

the trade off would be that hobbie wouldnt be TL with two focus for a solid hit but i guess hobbie or bandit at PS 12 with TL and his own focus isnt too shabby

Better. I would favor Recon Specialist over Lando for his consistency but, I don't thrust green dice (they have the tendency to fail me at worst times) so that might influence my judgement.

hmm valid point

the only list that i see this one really struggling with is a swarm

the only list that i see this one really struggling with is a swarm

That seems to be a common shortcoming of un-meta anti-meta builds. If someone has a silver bullet...?

so went with

dutch+ICT+R7t1

Roark+ICT+reconspec

hobbie+r3a2

bandit+ IPM

I dominated. played the list three times. Hobbie lasted two rounds of comabt in all three matches as he was the primary target. However, he effectively stressed for all three rounds and combined with the ions to lock them up. after hobbie fell in all the matches I had an ion and stress on a target and kept walking that target with the turret. The other turret would ion other targets as well. I only went against rebel three and four ship builds with no large ship bases. Kind of disappointing since i wanted to see how the build would fare against the meta. I still think it would do well though
