home made damage deck cards

just some damage deck cards i would like to see:

Critical hull breach. roll an attack dice at the start of each turn. if you roll a crit remove your ship from play.

Engine overload your ship must move maximum speed forward for the next two turns then flip this card face down and receive one stress..

Shield generator you cannot regen shields..

Damaged flight controls; your dial cannot be changed for the next two turns and must remain set on its last maneuver. afterwords flip this card face down and receive one stress token. if ps 2 or lower receive two stress tokens.

Avionics failure your ship loses the ability to target lock and or receive target locks.

Structural failure. reduce your agility to "0" ACTION roll 1 attack die on a "Hit result flip this card face down and take one damage on a crit result remove your ship from play..

I hate to shoot your ideas down so quickly, but I think most of these cards are way too powerful and prohibitive for play. Removing a ship off of one damage card would potentially spell instant-doom for a list, especially those with high-hull value ships with a lot of points invested in them. Also, restricting the use of the dial is also way too powerful and prohibitive to play as well. If they did a straight or bank maneuver near the edge of the board, they're pretty done for.

I do like the cards that interact with shields and actions though. Rather than the crit card that eliminates the use of the action bar, it would be interesting to have crits that interact with specific actions like your TL card. Cards such as "Whenever you perform a Focus or Evade action, receive one stress token" or "After you perform a boost or barrel roll action, roll one attack die and suffer any hit or crit damage".

personally i would like to see more instant explosions and ship removals. Just make it so those cards are very rare and only have one or two in the deck. currently the game doesn't have ANY one shot ONE kill cards.. Its almost like they are purposely trying to prolong the agony of the wounded ship. lol yeah and i get why they are doing it.just think it would be nice if we could get some additional different damage cards added to the deck. I mean there are a few right now that are pretty useless. Munitions fail?? who carries munitions??

Crits that powerful are absolutely insane. I like the ones that shut down shielding and target locks (although they seem really favourable to the Empire) but these three are just not good ideas. Critical Hull Breach could mean that the fifth point of damage I land on your Decimator is fatal, it's just too much. Maybe if it said you take one point of (noncritical) damage on a crit result.

Engine Overload and Damaged Flight Controls may as well say "this ship is no longer part of the game". Seriously, two turns of uncontrolled movement, followed by stress? No, just...no. Engine Overload will almost always send you off the map, and Damaged Flight Controls isn't much better.

A-wings are susceptible to being one shot from Proton Bombs. The damage deck is pretty balanced as it is now. Adding these one shot kill crits or maneuver hindering crits will limit peoples options for fear of getting that crit. Granted people still take munitions even though munitions failure is a thing but the difference between that and a one shot crit is your ship can still do things. The one i like is the move forward as fast you can, but only for one turn and no stress. Also it would be neat the have one that ionizes you.

The only crits I wish they did have are crits that would remove/discard a crew, system upgrade, or a modification. Too bad that we are stuck with the base damage deck.

A one-hit dead crit would not be that much fun. You could destroy a VT-49 in 5 hits. That's just nonsense.

Munitions Failure- Immediately choose 1 of your secondary weapon Upgrade cards and discard it. Then flip this Damage card face down.

It affects all secondary weapons.

All secondary weapons but not bombs... (which apparently aren't secondary weapons)

yeah but I also wanted more of a David vs Goliath kind of thing. I mean it would be cool to see a little measly A wing be able to take out a VT-49 or a Tie take out Fat Han!! i mean thematically A wings can take out a Star Destroyer so a VT should be easy!!!

One may want super lethal criticals and try to justify them by saying they are 'rare' but unless we greatly, and needlessly, expand the size of the damage deck would a 1/33 chance of drawing a card really be rare? It's about as 'rare' as rolling 5 hits/crits on five dice would be but it does happen.

As for damage cards I think could make a cut:

Didn't it have to crash into that star destroyer though?

Crashing into a YT strikes me as being harder...and you would still lose the a wing.
