(Away from the book now) Do bonuses from weapons help in both attacks & defensive rolls or just either one (if so, can the player choose which?) ?

Only when attacking.

depends on the bonusses.

if the bonus grants you e.g. a +1 on your combat value, this ALSO means +1 for your opponents shock roll difficulty.

i think all other bonusses give you only advantages for your combat roll....if i don't forget anything...

(i think, you will also find notes like: ...WHEN ATTACKING.... bonus....)
