Looking for feedback on my Squads

By Raynuk, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I only started a few weeks ago, but I have basically been going full tilt into this game, and after a few casual games against my friend who also plays, Ive come up with a few different Squad lists (some of which ive played, some I have yet to) for both sides of the coin, but honestly I feel like I have TOO many pre-planned options for now, so any feedback or criticism is appreciated.

Imperial Squad #1:

"Whisper" TIE Phantom (32)

-Tactician (2)

-Sensor Jammer (4)

-Lone Wolf (2)

-Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

"Backstabber" TIE Fighter (16)

-Targeting Computer (2)

"Mauler Mithel" TIE Fighter (17)

-Marksmanship (3)

-Shield Upgrade (4)

Black Squadron TIE Fighter (14)

Imperial Squad #2:

Sigma Squadron Pilot TIE Phantom (25)

-Fire Control System (2)

-Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

Kir Kanos TIE Interceptor (24)

-Royal Guard TIE (0)

-Targeting Computer (2)

-Shield Upgrade (4)

Carnor Jax TIE Interceptor (26)

-Royal Guard TIE (0)

-Targeting Computer (2)

-Shield Upgrade (4)

-Decoy (2)

Imperial Squad #3:

Colonel Jendon Lambda -Class Shuttle (26)

-ST-321 (3)

-Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

-Auto Blaster (5)

Carnor Jax TIE Interceptor (26)

-Royal Guard TIE (0)

-Hull Upgrade (3)

-Shield Upgrade (4)

-Wingman (2)

Royal Guard TIE Interceptor (22)

-Royal Guard TIE (0)

-Hull Upgrade (3)

-Shield Upgrade (4)

Rebel Squad #1:

Dash Rendar YT-2400 (36)

-Lando Calrissian (3)

-Lone Wolf (2)

-Heavy Laser Cannon (7)

Dagger Squadron B-Wing (24)

-Ion Cannon (2)

Rookie Pilot X-Wing (21)

-R2-D2 (4)

Rebel Squad #2:

Leboo YT-2400 (34)

-Lando Calrissian (3)

-Autoblaster (5)

-Push the Limit (3)

Dagger Squadron B-wing (24)

-Advanced Sensors (3)

-Ion Cannon (2)

Airen Cracken Z-95 (19)

-Deadeye (1)

-Munitions Failsafe (1)

-Concussion Missiles (4)

Rebel Squad #3:

Luke Skywalker X-Wing (28)

-R2-D2 (4)

-Lone Wolf (2)

-Hull Upgrade (3)

Tycho Celchu A-Wing (26)

-Munitions Failsafe (1)

-Proton Rockets (3)

-Push the Limit (3)

Blue Squadron B-Wing (22)

-Autoblaster (5)

-Hull Upgrade (3)

the YT-2400 was the first expansion that I bought, so I think thats why it plays a large part in my Rebel squads. My #1 Rebel squad seems to be the one thats had the highest success rate, as long as I manage to avoid over maneuvering, while on the Imp side Ive had the most success with my #2 Squad.

I see you taking Howlrunner a lot in your Imperial lists and then loading her down with upgrades. As a general rule if you aren't planning on flying at least 3 other ships in formation with Howlrunner, she isn't worth taking. She can't benefit from her own ability.

You're new to the game and playing casually with a friend. I wouldn't worry too much about feedback on those lists too much at this point. They all look like they might be fun to play and by playing them you'll learn a lot more about the upgrades and what works than you will from the feedback you get here from jaded players.

You'll get a lot of feedback like 'Phantoms need VI' and 'Interceptors should have PTL'. While these sorts of things may be true for competitive play, they close off a lot of fun and interesting builds to explore.

It think you might be missing a ship from your first Imperial list, I think you only spent 85 points.

Ah look at that. I forgot to include a Black Squadron TIE with Determination when I typed it up apparently.

Thanks for your feedback though on Howlrunner. I adjusted my squads (in blue)

Throw Adrenaline Rush on the Black Squad.. He has no need for Determination, the AR will give you some flexibility when you need it most. A one time use like that can surprise your opponent..

you cant put lone wolf on a blue squad pilot but the way you have rebel list 3 built id put lone wolf on Luke. Since they seem to not be flying in formation ( awing out runs the formation) luke would get rerolls on attack and on defense for better shot at his pilot ability

Yeah I removed the Determination off the Black Squad when I re-did that first list. I dont currently have an AR card, but I'll keep that in mind for the future. Thanks!

Uh. Oops. I must have left it there when I switched out Ten Numb for the Blue Squad as I shuffled points around. Good catch.
