Xexto

Anybody explain to me how the Multiarm ability work? Thank you a head of time.

Ability is "Additional Limbs"; they get access to a bonus free maneuver each turn, but it can't exceed the 2 maneuver maximum (unless you have the Unmatched Mobility Signature Ability).

Ok thank you for that. How dose that relate to starship maneuvers?

When piloting a vehicle, The Xexto can take 2 pilot-only maneuvers and not suffer strain herself. However, the vehicle will still suffer System Strain when performing the second pilot-only maneuver.

Thanks for the help.

Where is: Unmatched Mobility Signature Ability

So the way I read this, is that normally in a round a character can do the following:

  • Take one (1) Action and one (1) Maneuver - OR -
  • Take two (2) Maneuvers

By taking two (2) strain, you can then do one (1) additional Maneuver thus meaning in a round you could:

  • Action, Maneuver, Maneuver
  • Maneuver, Action, Maneuver

The Xexto ability (which is worth about 50-55XP by the way according to my calculations as well as others) allows the Xexto to take a free Maneuver, thus allowing the Xexto to perform (by taking 2 strain):

  • Maneuver, Maneuver, Maneuver

That's how I read it, but the second part of the ability's sentence doesn't seem to support that...

The ability lets you get a bonus maneuver for no strain cost. So you're still stuck with the two maneuver limit which (assuming nothing that would remove a maneuver) gives them the following options:

Maneuver, Maneuver, Action

Action, Maneuver, Maneuver

Maneuver, Action, Maneuver

Just the same as any other character, but no strain for the second maneuver. And obviously they can perform less maneuvers/actions each turn if they so choose.

Unmatched Mobility's base power gives the access to the third maneuver, which Xexto would then need to spend 2 strain to use, compared to other species that need 4 strain (2 for the second maneuver, and 2 for the 3rd maneuver granted by Unmatched Mobility). So this means under most circumstances, only 1 Free Maneuver upgrade for Unmatched Mobility will actually be useful since that 2nd maneuver will almost always be free for Xextos (again, barring any critical injuries or whatever).

The Xexto really seems to be a race for a somewhat advanced player. I do like it!

And I wouldn't actually take this as a default ability for anyone with multiple arms. It really depends on the species. If I were to do a Besalisk, for example, I might instead write them up with getting additional unarmed attacks somehow, or a bonus to dual wielding melee weapons or some such. There are stats for the gundark elsewhere (a beast with 4 arms) that has a different ability. So I wouldn't take this as the sort of, be all end all of 4 armed abilities, just for the record. This is just how the xexto express it.

Other species might be much more martial, and might get some sort of bonus to multi-attacks. Other species might jsut get a climbing bonus. This wasn't really designed as a catch-all for every multi-limbed species.

I had a player who wanted this ability for his droid. He has a thing for Grievous. I went with him being able to purchase Xexto "programming" for 50XP plus the initial additional appendages with no "software" for 2000cr at the time of character creation.

He does know Grievous is not a droid right? I could see a Xexto cyborg work better in that case....

I would live to see an Ewok like Treek from SWTOR.

Don't the Xexto have six limbs, any of which can be used as arms or legs?

Nope, they distinctly have 4 arms.

Nope, they distinctly have 4 arms.

Well, they do have hands on the end of all limbs though...

Nope, they distinctly have 4 arms.

This image looks to me like six arms, of which two are commonly used as “legs”:
