Is there a miniature gallery for the Descent minis? I am trying to decide which expansions or Hero/Monster Collections to obtain and a big part of the decision will be based upon the minis appearance and size. I also don't have either version of the game so I have no idea the size of the minis in comparison to say pre-painted lines or Games Workshop. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
Miniature Gallery
None that I am aware of, but if it would help, I guess I could take pictures of everything. Not sure, thought, of how they would need to be taken so that you can determine size, etc.
I don't know of an official gallery, but if you do a search for painted minis here or on boardgamegeek, I bet you'd find a good number of images. Also, if you go to the news section for descent (you can find a link up above) most announcement releases have images of at least some of the minis included (though those aren't great for determining size.) All of the minis have (roughly) the same scale, because they're all designed to fit on the same board- some are 1 space big, some are 2, or 4, or 6 spaces big.
You should be able to find pictures of the figures on BoardGameGeek.
I am just mainly looking for pictures of the hero minis along with their names and what set they come from. I am also curious as to how they compare size wise with the old D&D pre-painted, Pathfinder pre-painted, and Games Workshop minis. I would also kinda prefer images that were not painted so I can get a good look at the sculpts. Thank you for your replies.
Okay. I am going to make 1 post per expansion, with the list of heroes, their sizes, and a picture. Note that sizes are somehwat approximate, but won't be off by much. So far, all of the circular bases I have measured are 3/4 inch in diameter. The measurements for the heroes are their approximate height. They show in the picture, 1-8, left to right.

Okay, that completes all heroes released to date as part of Descent 2e.
Notes:
- I did not include all of the heroes which came from Descent 1e via the implementation of the Conversion Kit.
- There is a 4th Heroes and Monsters collection which is about to be released called Guardians of Deephall. As of this moment, I do not have that expansion, so those heroes are also not included.
I hope the above provides you the details for which you were looking.
Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. This will make it easier to decide which sets to get based upon which heroes I like the look of. Sadly if the base is only 3/4" that means they are probably too small to be used with D&D pre-painted or the Pathfinder pre-painted minis. Oh well, if I the base game ever comes back in stock and I can convince my wife, we can just use all Descent minis for our role playing as well as Descent games.
Why does the size of the base matter? I have use mine for DnD and Warhammer and they work fine.
In fact the excuse "I can use them with ..." has worked to validate my many purchases.
In fact I have repurposed Heroquest,Heroscape,Warhammer Fantasy, Old metal DnD figures, Warcraft board game, Warmaster and a few other games figures. Heck even the Paizo pawns, that mount on stands work alright.
Recently I came across a Conan miniature game on kickstarter, and with all the unlocked extra figures you get a huge bang for you buck
It is not so much the size of the base but how close in scale the minis are to the pre-painted D7D and Pathfinder minis I have since I have so many. Not to mention having all 3 D&D Adventure Game minis that are unpainted.
Dude they fit in fine, and Descent is a much better game than the DnD board games.
any2cards - Awsome, thanks a ton. =)
Think you could do the same for the monsters?
