X wing Store championship UGG won with low Ps B's and Y's.

I'd like to express my appreciation of David running XXXZ in a display of pure balls. Turrets? Nah. Phantoms? Nope. Swarms? Screw you. Two rookies, Biggs and Cracken. Done and done.

If I had an applause gif I'd use it.

On the flip side to all this, I myself got molly-womped with a Pantom/Decimator list this past weekend. 0&4, with one TIE Acad kill the whole time. Kept getting my cloaked, and obstructed Phantom one shotted by either another Phantom, or frickin Dash with his HLC turret garbage. I, however, do suck at this. Well, I suck at big ships and Phantoms anyway.

Hey guys so I was at the final table and figured I'd give you a rundown on how that final match went!

To start I was very impressed on my opponent to have made it to the final table and was rather worried about the Ion turrets against whisper. I wasn't too worried about the stress since I had used Tactician on previous builds I knew how to anticipate it.

My opponent started with his rebels in the middle of the map pointing right at the asteroid field and I started off to the right prepared to do a tuck and run with whisper. It wasn't until turn 3 when shots began to fire off. My Decimator landed behind a rock range 2/3 of his squad which was a bonus for me given I knew he would take some damage this turn. Whisper was at range 3 of the farthest Y-wing so no worries for Ions.

Whisper did terrible on his first shot and just cloaked with a TL to try again next round. Oicunn didn't do much better even with a TL reroll and vader. He didn't even get close to stripping shields.

Well as his attack would have it I would roll 0/6 evades over the course of 4 attacks (the b's were at range 3+rock)

The following round whisper began his dance of decloak/evade action to avoid taking a beating from the Y-wings and getting ionized. Whisper and oicunn were able to either severely damage a y-wing or destroy one..can't remember which. Oicunn was lost this round having done no ramming damage but did trigger 2 ruthless damage (The lowest amount of auto damage that had come all day between ruthless and ramming).

At this point it was a terrible position for whisper to be in. A nearly full y-wing and 2 b-wings with tactician were all closing up on whisper fast. Luckily the y-wing had a stress and was pointed away from the battle, taking quite a few turns to come back in.

Whisper began the dance of Gods evading firing arcs, dodging asteroids, and picking away at the two bwings. It was a horrible mess for me as the asteroids were at range 1 of each other in a nice block. I had no where to easily run away to whisper had a 1 bwing dead and 1 at full when the ywing came back into play. I had to take the risk at this point. I decloaked through the b-wing and did a 3 flip to get as many dice as possible at range 1. I got lucky and killed the ywing with that shot!

Now it is one bwing and whisper and I am feeling a sigh of relief. I do a 2 forward landing behind a rock much like how oicunn had been previously. I evade and take a pot shot at the b-wing at range 1, I only deal 1 or 2 damage but focus up.

He attacks and defense dice avoid me taking any damage.

The next turn is what cost me the game. I had forgot to put my cloak token out after I had shot at the b-wing, he does a 2 flip right in front of whisper and I do a 1 hard right in between two rocks so I can't get out of his arc. I take 2 damage and am in trouble. I know I am. The following turn I do a hard to try and get out of arc which succeeds but I again can't go anywhere.

I probably could have just ran a loop the rest of the match till time but I don't enjoy winning like that. It's always ship to ship to me. I took a gamble and decided to let fate have the game. I decloak right past the big asteroid and do a 4 flip which puts me at range 3 through a rock for the return fire. but I was in a perfect position for the following round.....had whisper survived. I ping another damage on his b-wing giving me the focus I needed and 4 dice without a cloak (since stressed) range 3 plus a rock back. His FCS gave him the TL he needed to land 4 hits to my 1 eyeball defense roll.

It was a well played game on both ends and one of the few matches I was truly happy to have been defeated in.

I do take offense to whoever said my build doesn't have originality. No one else was running ruthless and no one runs Oicunn like I did. In the series of matches I played that day...on average I was getting at least 5 or 6 auto damage per game (thats a whole nother ship) Sure whisper wasn't original but you can't do a lot with that ship to not stay competitive.
