I accidentally gave myself a huge advantage - I forgot that the troopers scoring the mission tokens are supposed to be removed, and so I ended up having way more threat to work with than I should have. And the Rebels STILL won. Is this mission massively weighted in their favor, or am I the worst leader the Empire has ever seen?
Sympathy for the Rebellion
it is quite heavily weighted in their favor but they do end up getting a really nice reward. I think it is designed that way so that they get to use him once.
They won the same turn vader turned up because one of them had not flipped his activation token so I thought he had already gone (he had not).
I still really enjoyed it and it came down to just 2 tokens on the board even if they got their 5 in 3 rounds.

Lord Vader is not impressed.
That tightening you feel around your throat? You earned that.
I think if I ever get to play it again (as Imperials), rather than race them for the recruit tokens I'll focus on plugging the exits. (I think that was my biggest mistake - putting guys between them and the exits, but not ON the exits, never thinking that they would just double-move and bullrush through rather than fight.) Then while they're trying to cut through I can mop up all the guys they haven't picked up.

Very often how I find myself playing the game. Always shifting between stalling and all-out blasting.
Our groups Imperial player did the same thing, and we won.
I took pride that we beat it on "hard mode", lol.
I ended up using Force Throw to keep Vader away, and also used it to move Luke to the exit... Then in another mission where Vader appears, I threw him with Force Throw again... Our Imperial player just unlocked Vader for deployment, so I have the feeling he's going to now specifically try to kill Diala at this point, lol.
*SPOILERS*
Huh, I had the opposite. I was the Imp player, and after Luke failed to kill a trooper (hurra for assault armor), the top-left 3 each grabbed a token and hid in the corner away from the three heroes. So at the end of the first turn, I got 12 (three tokens) +4 threat, and then started to flood the board with figures. From there it snowballed for the heroes, since I could wound a hero and still pick up multiple tokens. I kept getting lots of threat each turn between tokens, high-value-target, and turn end.

Did you use the 12 threat from round 1 to deploy figures in round 2? If so, that might be why it seemed easy. That is not allowed. The stormtroopers are removed and the threat from tokens is increased at the end of the round per the mission rules and end of round effects are resolved after deployment of figures in the status phase so you would not have been able to use the 12 threat until the status phase before round 3.
Oops, well now I feel bad, I was wondering how the heroes could keep up with that threat. Hm, maybe I'll give them the reward for free since I screwed up that mission (we are a few more missions past that now, so can't really go back).

Oh no! I might challenge you for first in line to the public Force Choking. When I played this mission, I misread the Empire version of claiming the tokens and Thought I had to escort them to the exits as well. So I QB'd the tokens towards the exits before I glanced at the rules again. If I remember correctly I needed to pick them up and at the end of the round they would be considered captured.
I was pissed cause I ran 3 tokens straight towards one of the exits...oh well.
I did similar mistake... At begin for 1 round I did your same error, but it did not impact the game so far. One player noticed it on the round after the mishap happened and we quickly fixed. But then, I started to remove units and getting only 1 threat point per removed stormtrooper. Soon, the map was empty as the rebels quickly dispatched my unit. Too late I discovered my mistake. :-P
Can someone walk me through how the threat per token rules worked on this mission if it was the first side mission (ie a threat of two).
I feel like I had too much threat (gave myself too much) and I still barely won (a hero ran two spaces away from where darth spawned instead of going to the much closer other door)
I start the mission with 4. Take three tokens on turn one, and then what?

If this was your first side mission then the threat level of the mission is 2 as indicated on the mission schedule of the campaign guide. Increase the threat by 2 (The threat level of this mission) for each of the 3 tokens for a total of 6 threat gained after round one. Each subsequent token captured by Stormtroopers will allow you to gain 2 threat at the end of those rounds.
Edited by CT_RobThanks, turns out I screwed them over lol. I was giving myself 4 per token because I didn't understand the 2x threat in the deployment blurb.
