Matwe and Understanding Character Generation

By Creeping Death, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Been reading the core Edge of the Empire book, and looking at Matwe pregen character. Could someone break down this character and show me how he is created using the rules. I don't see this character adding up or I am missing a big step somewhere.

The pregen characters for use in the Beginner games are "examples" and do not follow the rules. The specializations they use are a group of talents mixed from the set available to the 3 main specs of the class.

Basically they are to show how the game works, and not how character generation works. That is also why the beginner game has some rules (like for initiative) watered down. It is to get the gist of it and to interest you enough to buy the CRB.

I haven't looked too closely at the pregens, but I recall a lot of people mentioning that many of them could not be recreated using the rules for character creation.

It seems that creating pregen PCs was done using the same rules for creating NPCs. They have what they need to have to give the experience to the players that they want to convey.

Well Matwe was included in the Free Rpg Adventure and not the Basic Game, if I understand correctly. But if he was created in the same way, that would explain alot of why Matwe just doesn't add up. My group tried the system with pregens and liked it so much we now have played 8 or 9 times and I added a new player that wanted to create a new character and I started looking at the pregen to make sure I didn't miss anything and noticed something was not correct.

Indeed, it's oddly close, but doesn't quite match up. 1 to many class skills, 1 to few non-class skills, and has Plausible Deniability instead of Convincing Demeanor.

Not a clue how I managed to post in the wrong thread. Ignore this entirely.

I used to get that a lot, but it is Fated To Die as in an open declaration that I am not immortal.

Faded Toadie is a sunburned toad and is not the same . =)
