R2 and SoT

By Ken at Sunrise, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Sorry, I know this has been answered but I can't find it.

Using R2 and Stay on Target. If I go speed 1 or 2 is the maneuver green or red?

Card Abilities
R2:

You may treat all 1- and 2-speed maneuvers as green maneuvers.

Stay on Target:

When you reveal a maneuver dial, you may rotate your dial to another maneuver with the same speed.

Treat that maneuver as a red maneuver.

Red - based on the FAQ entry for R2 and Damaged Engine (that treats hard turns as red) R2 does not make them green:

"A ship equipped with R2 Astromech that has Damaged Engine assigned to it treats all of its turn maneuvers as red maneuvers, including the 1- and 2-speed turn maneuvers."

I assume the same goes for SoT.

There is a rule for this.

An effect that makes a maneuver more difficult, from green to white, white to red, green to red... Trumps an effect that makes a maneuver less difficult, from red to white or red to green.

Q: If two or more game effects that change the difficulty of a maneuver conflict, which effect takes priority?

A: An effect that increases the difficulty of a maneuver takes priority over an effect that decreases the difficulty. For example, if a ship equipped with R2 Astromech is dealt the Damaged Engine Damage card, all of the ship’s turn maneuvers are treated as red maneuvers, including the 1-speed and 2-speed turn maneuvers.

This is the rule that people often mistakenly think means that a negative trumps a positive in a more general sense.

I thought I was missing something obvious.

Thank you both :)

Also of note while discussing it, as an ion token sets a white maneuver, r2 would be the only effect changing it. This would make the 1 straight a green move.

Stay on target cannot be used when you are ioned (came up at tourney last weekend) as you don't have a dial.

I thought Nien Nunb also made your Ion straight green??

He does.

The 1 white straight from being Ionized isn't a case of a maneuver being made more difficult. Rather it's a simply a maneuver that you have to perform. So that means things like R2 or Nien can change it, because they're the only change that's happening.
