So for whatever reason, in any wargame I play I love giving units and upgrades nicknames, and X-Wing is no exception. Note, these are different to abbreviations like HLC or names for lists and builds like Fat Han, these are just silly little names I dub my pilots.

The first was Rexler Brah (said like a surfer or a dude-bro would say it). I think this came about because Brath is difficult for New Zealanders to say. After that I accidentally read Etahn A'Baht as Ethan A**hat and then the flood gates opened.

A few more of my favorites

Corran Horn- The Great Corranholio (Are you threatening me?)

Wedge- Potato Wedge, or just Potato

Biggs- Biggie, Notorious B.I.G.

Airen Cracken- Airen Crackhead (at least its not about mythical sea beasts)

Lt. Blount- Lt. Blunt (immature I know, but it keeps to the theme)

Bandit Squadron Pilots- Frito Banditos

Horton Salm- Horton Sam, Sam, Horton Slam, Horton Ham, Horton hears a Who

From this forum I like Prockets for Proton Rockets, but I feel this could be enhanced to Polly Prockets, or Hot Prockets, I also love Charlatan Refit

Anyway, does anyone else do this or am I insane?

There are a few nicknames that get used, but usually just to make the name shorter or easier to say (like Eating a Boat for Etahn, or the controversial "Chirpy" for Chiraneau). A lot of these you mentioned seem to make the names longer, so I don't see these catching on to be honest.

Not really a nick-name as much as a larger name, but the standard designation for an imperial Bounty Hunter without upgrades (imo, the most cost-effective ship in the game) is "Bare Naked Bounty Hunter."

And Soontir, of course, is the baron. Fly him in a royal guard interceptor and whoever you're shooting at becomes Snoopy.

for a while my local playgroup were using a lot of lists with luke skywalker in them

i was disgusted from seeing him all the time i started calling him "puke" skywalker

it sort of caught on and i've heard a few guys around the playgroup calling him that..lol

also i'm glad to hear i'm not the only one that calls him airen crackhead!

I've heard that Turd Ferguson has been flying the interceptor.

Fun fact: Eminem also calls him puke skywalker in "rhyme or reason", though it's likely he's also using "skywalker" to describe the quality of his "puke", aka rapping: "puke skywalker but sounds like chewbacca when I talk". He also does an impressive yoda impression a few lines before.

Biggs= #%#$@^ mostly because when I face him he takes 5-6 turns to die yet when I use him he gets 1-shotted on turn 2.
