Do the proximity mines bypass shields?

Short answer, No.

currently the only effects that bypass shields are Proton bombs and Jek Porkins special ability.

Long answer, you suffer any damage from the 3 dice as per normal, shields then hull.

I take it you had shields and ignored them? Chalk it up to a learning experience.

You take a dmg card, or were told you had to?

I only ask because if you were told to by another player, be sure to point out that he or she was wrong

Yea rolled 3 crits and killed myself with 3 shield missread the mime card didnt catch it till latter

It sucks when you check these things after the game and find out you could've survived because you got something wrong. On the plus side, you won't forget that again.
