Three Rules Questions!

By KTreu42, in X-Wing Rules Questions

As per usual, I'm sorry if these rules have (no doubt) been answered here already. All three of these questions came up during a couple battles I just had with my friend.

1. Bombs and Ionized ships

R.A. Chiraneau was hit by an Ion Torpedo. The next turn, I was considering using his Proton Bomb. However, I decided that I cannot.

Here's my reasoning:

I believe the text says you use bombs immediately upon revealing your maneuver dial. However, the ion text says something like you "do not choose a maneuver," but use the 1 straight template. Thus, I am assuming since you are not "revealing" a maneuver, you cannot drop a bomb. The timing would make sense since you're ionized up until you are allowed to take an action, but dropping a bomb happens while still ionized. Is this accurate?

2. Attacking through obstructions

Actually, scratch the second question... figured it out!

I was going to ask about firing through obstructions - can you fire at an unobstructed part of the target, or not. However, I just found a rulebook correction explaining that you must use the closest points of the two ships when firing through obstacles. So, if anyone else was wondering... there ya go!

3. Obstructed movement & stress

I had a stressed B-Wing which had been rammed by Oicunn, trying to bank off to one side to get past Oicunn and de-stress. However, his 1-bank maneuver wasn't far enough, so he had to stay put up against Oicunn. This 1-bank maneuver was a green maneuver, so despite the fact that I literally did not end up moving at all, I still removed the stress token - even though I still had to skip my action phase since it was technically a collision.

Correct/incorrect?

Thanks for the help!

You are absolutely right on both 1 and 3, and 2 you figured out as well.

Plus on #1 most bombs would then proceed to hit yourself in the butt

Heh, valid point. It could definitely be worth it in situations (if it were possible) with the Decimator's health pool, especially with Moff J. soaking up the critical effect if needed. Thanks for clarifying everything!

Actually on #1, chimmy wouldn't have been ionized. Large ships require 2 ion tokens to be ionized. Ion torps deal 1, but IPM's deal 2. But if he was, then you would be correct.

Some card abilities may cause a ship to receive an ion token. A large ship is
unaffected by a single ion token; the ion token simply remains assigned to the
ship. When a large ship has two or more ion tokens assigned to it, it suffers
the ion token effect as normal, then player removes all ion tokens from the
ship at the end of the Activation phase

Sorry,I meant it was an IPM. Couldn't remember which was which when writing this.
