And unfortunately, I don't mean mystical Force curses of bad fortune. It would be nigh-unto-impossible to even ask, let alone expect, my group of players to clean up their vocabulary. It is just within reason to ask them to make it genre-specific. So, what are common Star Wars curses? I'm certain we'll fall back on Battlestar Galactic and Firefly for their creative recasts of 21st century Earth cursing. But what about Star Wars specific curses? I'm sure there have been some, but I can't recall where in more then a general sense (like, in the X-Wing series... a bit large to skim).
Cursing in Star Wars
To quote Sebulba from Episode 1 (just breathe, we all know it was bad) "Bantha Poodoo!"
Other than that, try looking up some Huttese phrases (or just make some up), or just come up with something large-and-dangerous-animal-related like "Flamin' Rancors!"
"Oh. Nice to see a familiar face."
"Echuta"
"How rude."
Your Tauntaun will freeze before you get to the first marker.
Then I'll see you in Hell.
I learned all my star wars curse words by reading the Star Wars Legacy comics.
Fortunately, most of their curse words are Huttese. You can read a few here .
Edited by kaosoeHere's a list of the various slang (including expletives) found in the EU:
My favorites:
Stang
Schutta
Kriff
Poodoo
the only one I can remember from the books in the EU is sith. I also remember sith spawn being used. in one of the takes anthology books, like takes from the cantina, a lady called kyp durron dark lord of the sith. she didn't know he was one. I only remember it because it stated afte that "he flinched from the curse."
"Sith Spit" is a good one.
These are all good sources. The wookieepedia ones seem exhaustive.
I got several good (mostly polite) phrases from "Star Wars Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide" by Ben Burtt Illustrated by Sergio Aragones.
It has some behind the scenes information on the collection, manipulation, and basic motivations for sounds and speeh in Star Wars.
" Why, you stuck-up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerf-herder!"
" Who's scruffy-looking? " ―Princess Leia Organa and Han Solo [src]
Booster Terrick called Talon Karrde a b*****d in The Bacta War.
"Sith spit." Kyle Katarn

you can't say that word. that's our word

My little brother and his best friend play in my game. While the two of us are EXTREMELY white, his friend is black. This reminded me of a quote in the game.
Friend: "This Nerf-herder right here starting something."
My little brother: "HEY. That's our word!"
Friend: "Oh, my bad. This Nerf-herda'."
My little brother: "Thank you."
On the topic: Kark and Karking helps replace a lot of the possible f-bombs at my table. Most of the people I group with are 25 and above, some I've played since the Army and my wife is very Irish, so I don't even bother most times. The only time I had a game where there was zero cursing was when I introduced a Twi'lek and they wanted an accent for him and all I can think of was a Minnesotan accent due to watching Fargo the night before.
All the big bad smugglers and bounty hunters were saying "Aw geez." and "Don'tcha' know" for that whole game.

I'm doing this next time.
Here's a pretty comprehensive list, compiled by Abel G. Pena.

Yeah, 'kriffing' seems to be the curse word of choice for us. Or 'what the Sith?'
Good list from Donovan, thanks.
We have to be wary of real-world terms like 'hell' and 'baptised' too, it's surprising how you have to watch your language (not only bad language, but terms we take for granted...)
Only one of our characters is permitted to use real-world swear-words, to better illustrate the sheer profanity of that character. In-game references wouldn't properly convey the vulgarity. They did something similar with 'Deadwood'; I believe, where they used modern swearing because the blaspheming of the period would sound tame to modern ears.
Shadowrun euphemisms, (frag, drek, slot) seem to work well for EoE games too. Thy seem to keep the impact that PG insults don't have.

Unless you feel it's not very Star Warsy, "Hell" should be okay. I believe Han Solo used the ol' H-E-Double Hockey sticks in the movie.
My Players and I generally keep it real-world, mostly necause it's hard enough to ge them to roleplay at all. They're very new to tabletop RPGs, and very finicky, too. The good thing is that my Players are with Alliance Intelligence, and most of their contacts are low-ranking Army/Navy/Marine types. As I put it recently, they've "really tapped into the E-4 Mafia."
One of our characters curses in Mandalorian.
One day it was "Mir osik!". I just had to reply "Wait... did you just call me s**t for brains?"
Edited by StreakThis is a good point to discuss. Sometimes I run games at conventions, and I encourage the players to clean up their vocabulary when there are young players present. It also adds to the feel of my game.
Some ideas:
An old but good one is stang . I think it's from the Dark Empire comics.
I also like Sith-spawned , festering , and sons of mynocks .
Good interjections include "What in blazes?"
Lando's droid Vuffi Raa once used glitch as a swear word.
-Nate
"Blast!" is in the films, fills in for '****' nicely. Or 'blasted', as in "I can't get the blasted thing to work!"

Is there a concept of 'hell' in SW? Do we know much about belief in the afterlife? I had an NPC tell another character to 'Go to Byss!' at one point.
(Edit - just looked it up on Wookiepedia, sounds suspiciously like a retcon to me, after Han said it in the films. That said, I'd expect most cultures have some concepts of gods or an afterlife, yes?)
(I already banned 'force ghosts', as they appear in ESB anyway. I like the concept of some element of a person lingering after death, but not sitting around and chatting casually...)
I had to correct another player in an online game last week; a Corellian character refused a drink of Whyren's Reserve and the other PC said 'I thought they baptised you in that stuff'. As I wasn't even sure they have baptism rituals, I amended it to 'I thought they fed you that stuff instead of mother's milk'...
My players are always asking me about these things. 'Do they have normal earth animals?' I'd assume so; they call their ships after Hawks and Falcons, after all.

(Nerd alert, read on at your own risk:)
I always felt that, since they're all speaking English (which would be impossible), words like 'hawk', 'falcon', and 'hell' are just the English equivalent of what they would have
actually
been saying.
