But I have not picked up Rebel Aces. Would Recon Specialist be a valid replacement?

This build would work, just not nearly as good. The joy of Super Dash is you do a green every turn get a focus and can boost and barrel roll to make sure you are not in the "donut hole". Sometimes I do end up taking my action for the second focus and/or target lock, but the joy is having the option to still have a focus after moving so much. I would think it would be your best option if you don't have the crew, but I would think about either buying it or borrowing from someone.

Recon is a close substitute, yes. But what makes Kyle good is that even if you do a green and run into something ("get blocked") you still end up with a Focus token, whereas your total token count with Recon would be a big fat 0.

You're gonna have alot of turns where you need to boost + barrel roll to get away, but you're not gonna have any tokens. Will work about half the time though.

You could try just using Lone wolf + recon until you get aces, and have more points for the rest of the list so you dont have as much invested in him.

It'll play differently, and not get the triple action, but Nien Numb will give you a lot more flexibility at clearing PtL stress and keeping the range open.

I agree. Nien Numb adds a whole different level of movement to PTL Dash

Nien is an absolute Boss on large ptl ships! You lose an action per turn bit you dont have to spend as much actions manoeuvring, because he opens up your dial wen you are stressed.

I have always beat Dash + PTL + Kyle with Leebo + Predator + Recon

have not played Dash yet but if i did i would take

I dont like PTL with all the ways to recive stress I really dont want to stress myself

Recon for me is auto include on Firespray and Outrider it helps them live much longer

If you can't Kyle, you can at least Nien Nub for more options

It's no wonder phantoms hard counter super dash when he's limited to four maneuvers
