Will Debris fields eventually be legal on all tournaments?

As Forgottenlore says, there hasn't been an update to the tournament rules since the Wave 5 release. If say that's why debris clouds aren't tourney-legal yet.

Tournament rules and FAQ were last updated on October 20. There was also an update before that, that was also after the rules for the tokens were announced. Considering these things have essentially been around since gencon it is a bit surprising.

Right: there was a limited release at GenCon, but the actual release was late November. So there's been no rules update since Wave 5 was released.

As the rules stand, the player with initiative provides all of the obstacles. If they had the choice of which obstacles were used, it would add a whole new reason to ensure you got initiative... I'm not sure if that would be a good thing or not, but it would certainly shake things up.

I personally like the option of adding different items to the set and hope they include rules for such.

Dash certainly prefers debris - he doesn't take a stress on them for activation phase, and he can fire from them, so he doesn't need an action to move off of them for the combat phase.

As I stated before, each person should be able to bring 3 obstacles, or one large ship obstacle.

That would be fun and fair. I have lots of empire builds where I would easily fly through debris to get shots on enemies, because you never take a crit. Also, it's so much fun to slap down 1 large ship as an obstacle and watch your opponents face as he realizes he will have to deal with it.

Huge ships as obstacles would be really wonky in tournament play unless the rules for them were rewitten. The way I read the rules, there's nothing that would stop Dash from flying through one or even ending his move on top of it. Ending his move on the ship presents some logistical challenges and being able to move through an obstacle that size give him a larger advantage than I believe his ability was meant to.

What do you mean by never taking a crit going through a debris field? It happens 1/8th of the time. Are you referring to shields?

Yes with shields, heck I even do it without, I would take the 8th of a chance to not take a critical hit for that shot I needed on an enemy, phantom or soon, etc?
