Personally, I like to try and get somewhere between 22-26 total hit points in my squad, though I'm willing to go lower than 22 if there's a good reason, such as a really synergetic combo. It also depends on my strategy. If I want to have a strong attack, I might sacrifice a point or two in order to gain more attack dice or the ability to modify them (like adding Push the Limit and a targeting computer to a TIE Interceptor).
How many total hit points do you like to have in a squad?
Lowest I've gone is 14 with the duel defender list but usually 20ish is my minimum.
My current list has 13 =P. But they all have 3 agility and the evade.. plus one regens.
I try to aim for 26, I think it's the sweet spot for most strong lists
12
It varies.
2 Phantoms and Fel is only 11 HP, but I run it. I also do BBXZ, which is 25 (I think), so it really depends on the goal of the squad.
I have run as low a 9 (3 interceptors). I do not really pay attention to my overall that much after winning a tournament with that.
Previously, I'd only do around 20-25. In the current meta, a competative list for me usually runs with 32-36HP and a minimum of 10 red dice. With the number of two-ship lists in the meta right now, I like having the option to throw a lot of beef on the table while my opponent only has an average of 7-8 red dice per round to hit it with.
Advanced Sensor shuttles really do a number against Outriders and Decimators, and can usually go strength against strength when fighting them.
Likewise, the Rebel Panic Attack squad (3 Blues with Tactician and an Ion Turret Gold with R3A2) is both really tough to kill and can utterly cripple a list through action denial.
Shouldn't it depend on how many agility they have? Currently, I run 20 if you count crew chewie.
It depends a lot on your agility, and to a lesser extent your upgrades.
With a few high agility ships you might only have 10-12 hit points, vs having all low agility you probably have 30 or more.
Until wave 5, I never really bothered with it. I could go as low as 9 hull with 3 Interceptors or higher depending on what I wanted to play. But regardless, it was never a factor I took into consideration, I took what I wanted to fly.
But since wave 5 and the overabundance of turrets with no way to dodge their arcs, I found myself starting to take it into account. A war of attrition has started, I must do more damage per turn or be able to take a lot of damage. So, I would say that 18 hit point is a reasonnable place to be with good agility (Soontir with 5 Tie or Brath with 4 Tie) and the occasionnal highest being 30 (Vessery with 4 Bombers).
But then again, I'll continue to run what I like as much as I can, so it's not a value set in stone. Once Autothrusters come out, you can be sure that I'll play with 3 interceptors once in while... after trying all the new toys from the scum faction, of course.
Personally I never really think about it, but just looking at the squads I've been most succesful with: I'm 5-1 with a squad with 10hp, and 7-2 with a squad with 18hp. I don't think I ever really get above the low 20's.

Anything less than 30 is just begging that outrider 360 to kill you.

Sure, that's why a Decimator + Phantom list (20hp) or Han + 3 Z (25hp) doesn't have success at all in the current tournament scene.
40 hp, 4 shuttles FTW!!!
