Some questions for those flying YT1300/2400 lists.

By BahnCalamari, in X-Wing

I am still flip-flopping between lists and I don't have as much time for testing as I would like. I am thinking I may pick up a YT-2400 before my event but had some questions first.

1. YT-1300 and YT-2400 is a mouthful. How are you referring to your list?

YT-3700? Falcon-Rider? (Pilot name)- (Pilot name)?

2. The list I see most often is Leebo+Chewy. How does this fare vs the popular Whisper and Echo builds? The turrets are great but it does not have the PS to beat the cloaking.

3. To those that run Dash, Have you found his pilot ability is helpful when you are running two large ships? or is it just extra points for the PS?

4. Is it always better to take the HLC-Outider combo when running two large ships? That is twelve points that could be a bandit.

5. Lando crew on Han or Chewy. I have looked at the math and it seems like an okay crew but maybe a bit overcosted. Have those that have tried him found him worth the cost?

6. Leebo crew. Are they many ion lists in the meta now? Is Leebo a good deal as you can control the ion and still action/attack.

Thanks in advance!

I've been running Chewie Dash the last week or so, Its working VERY well, currently 6-0.

1. I refer to it by Pilot names.

2. I haven't tried the Leebo chewie combo yet so can't really say much for how effective it is.

3. I find it very useful, I probably only use it 4-5 times per game but if you manage to build a corridor up one side of the map & either draw your opponent into a joust if its in your favour (Dash behind Chewie means its hard for them to get into his R1 bubble.) if against a swarm try to draw them into the rock field by setting up facing them in a joust but then turning away from the corridor & flying along your baseline.

4. ALWAYS the HLC outrider, ALWAYS.

5. Lanmdo is too un-reliable, need a focus, he'll roll double evade (not bad, just not what you need) he will also double blank at critical moments, when he's good he's good, when he's bad he can cost you your ship, especially if you're using PTL to get another action as well.

6. Haven't tried Leebo crew, my thinking is the same as yours, not much Ion around atm so might be worth it as a cheap engine but I prefer PTL & Kyle crew.

Hopefully that info helps!

1- Depends on the set up. I refer to Chewie/Leebo as my 5x5 list but i've also heard Chewbo.

2- 5x5 works against Phantoms but it's all down to weight of fire and keeping the Phantom out of the range 1 hole on the 2400, which isn't easy if your opponant knows how to fly a Phantom. You could blow a few points and put Prockets on the 2400 to give it a 1 shot at range 1 to give you a chance but I think it's a bit of a waste.

3- I find Dash's ability very very useful, It can help you put space between you and Phantoms by moving over and past obstacles.

4- Always take the HLC, at least until you can take a Mangler Cannon.

5- I prefer certainty and Lando doesn't give me that, so i don't use him. If i can't rely on an upgrade to give me the effect i'm looking for then I tend not to use them. So, for me, its good old C-3PO.

6- Never used the Leebo crew to be honest so i couldn't comment.

I am running Lando+Dash, calling it Dashdo or Landash. I make the Falcon run with Lando and Draw Thier Fire, with Dash on the inside flank shooting and not being afraid of asteroids. I am running dash with VI and no crew and no EU, much to the dismay of the internet.

The rationale is that I can still double action dash with Lando, and a stress free full move and barrel roll at ps9 with dash is all I need to escape donut range of nearby ships.

Most importantly, I am running hot at 98 points. Taking initiative with my build is essential, otherwise VI dash is wasted. With VI dash, you are throwing 4 dice at a decloaked phantom. This won't kill it in one volley necessarily, but Lando gets to shoot at the recloaked phantom and can usually squeeze in the shot or two needed to hit. This had always resulted in a dead phantom the first round it decloaks for me. I do not fear phantoms at all, but I would NOT go to 99 or 100 Pts and risk losing initiative.

Also, bonus, by keeping the falcon range 1 from dash, anything trying to exploit the donut is usually getting hit with 4 dice off the falcon as a result.

1. Double YTs, Chewie-Leebo, the freighters, etc. :-)

2. The Chewie-Leebo combo is the one I've used and it is quite effective. In a tournament setting, time is important so survivability is crucial. These two are inherently durable. Plus, for dealing with Phantoms, I put Gunner and Predator on Chewie, so damage is bound to get through.

3. Dash's ability is awesome, but I haven't paired him with another large ship yet. I've used an E-Wing (Corran) or a Hawk (Jan) to great effect though.

4. The HLC+Outrider combo is almost mandatory with Dash (his ability, especially with EU, makes him stay at range 2-3 so easily), but in my opinion, not with the other pilots. For my Chewie+Leebo build, Leebo has a HLC but not the title, so I can still have 3-die attacks at range 1 and 360 degrees. Plus, the YT-2400 dial is great, so it's not that difficult to keep the targets in the front firing arc.

5. Haven't used Lando crew on the YT-1300 yet, but he's been very efficient on Leebo so far.

6. Haven't used Leebo crew yet.

I've typically seen it as a portmanteau of the pilots names. Leebacca, for instance.

2. The list I see most often is Leebo+Chewy. How does this fare vs the popular Whisper and Echo builds? The turrets are great but it does not have the PS to beat the cloaking.

It has sufficient survivability to work against them, and having an HLC with a turret works wonders against a cloaked ship.

3. To those that run Dash, Have you found his pilot ability is helpful when you are running two large ships? or is it just extra points for the PS?

His pilot ability is always useful, as your other large ship tends to be scared of the Asteroids. Moreover, this extra layer of freedom gives Dash unparalleled use of the Outrider/HLC.

4. Is it always better to take the HLC-Outider combo when running two large ships? That is twelve points that could be a bandit.

It is not always better, no. It depends on who you're flying, and against whom you expect to fly.

Mangler + Outrider shaves the upside of the HLC in favor of mitigating the downside of the doughnut hole and the cost.

5. Lando crew on Han or Chewy. I have looked at the math and it seems like an okay crew but maybe a bit overcosted. Have those that have tried him found him worth the cost?

Experimental Interface, mate. 'Nuff said.

However, the Falcon pilots have so many extra survivability options, that I run that combo on the Outrider instead.

6. Leebo crew. Are they many ion lists in the meta now? Is Leebo a good deal as you can control the ion and still action/attack.

Leebo is surprisingly good on B-Wings with Advanced Sensors. However, most use him just on the Large ships.

People around here call the yt combo the "YT 13-24"

I got a question. Are you guys effing evil?

Yes, & not ashamed of it   :P

In all honesty its a boring as hell squad to fly, your maneuver choices simply don't matter. Flown by even an average player this list is brutal, its just so tough to kill, especially in a tournament setting with time limits.

What's your squad build for this?
